Additional Information

Experience Valencia’s very own ‘Sistine Chapel’. Nestled in the city center, this magnificent church, recently renovated and now open to the general public, is among the oldest religious edifices in Valencia.

Originally established over seven centuries ago, it once stood as a gothic temple, and has seen significant modifications over the years, resulting in the extraordinary exterior you see today. In the late 17th century, the interior walls underwent a dramatic transformation, becoming decorated with breathtaking artwork, entirely encapsulating them in a rich baroque style, leaving its international visitors awe-struck. The efforts of the Fundación Hortensia Herrero Maecenases lead to the restoration of more than 2000m2 of these captivating murals. Open from Tuesday through Sunday, your ticket to San Nicolas comes with an audioguide for a comfortable learning experience about this venerable church.

stupendous - Truly a wonderful place. Ticket price €11 per person, really worth it. The price includes a radio with headphones with all explanations.

A beautiful ceiling! - We purchased our tickets with Viator prior to leaving on our trip. There was a long line waiting to purchase tickets and we were waved past them. It was a beautiful church and the audio guide was wonderful. It had music accompanying the key highlights. I never would’ve figured out when looking at each chapel to look behind us and up at the story that goes with it. It had a nice flow of chapels and the beauty was in the ceiling.

Fascinating - Absolutely breathtaking place. Great audio guide as well. You can easily spent 1 hour here. It's really hidden from the outside.

The Capilla Sixtina Valenciana - A small church in the heart of Valencia, hidden among the typical streets. An unexpected revelation. Simply magnificent...no other words are needed...an experience to seek and savor.

Neat church, good audio guide - Popped in for a visit, the last day of April. Sort of pricey. Interior is very nice. The audio guide was more comfortable than the Cathedral, and only skipped the order once. Overall a worthwhile experience.

MERCANTILISM - Guided tour of the CHURCH of San Nicolás. I highlight church because the treatment of disabled people is shameful. They charge us without any discount for the visit. Any museum, monument and church that I have visited always has a discounted price or even no fee.

Beautiful but expensive. Make sure you have time to visit the basilica before mass begins - Price a little high compared to other places visited. You need to allow at least 45 minutes for the visit so don't go close to mass time. We were not informed of the actual duration needed and so when we were still about halfway through the visit, they came to take back the audio guide and made us leave.

Monetization of culture and Catholicism - Beautiful and unique church, although comparing it with the Sistine Chapel is excessive and misleading. A single nave, poorly lit, with chapels to which they have placed imagery from Olot to fill it and which creaks with the surroundings. Crowded with tourists, €11 each. Monetization of culture and Catholicism in its purest form. They say they sell a pack of tickets to the church and Silk Market, that's what I asked for, and that's how it appears on the ticket. Lie. The entrance, which they say they give away, is not to the Silk Exchange but to a silk museum. When I arrived at the Lonja with my San Nicolás ticket they told me that it was not valid and that I had to pay another ticket. I looked like a scammed tourist. The time then comes to return to San Nicolás to file a claim. Very harsh treatment, almost rude, on the part of the person in charge who finally agreed to give me the complaints book. “Your claim won't go anywhere, it's absurd that you put it in,” he tells me, “I'm sure it won't go anywhere, but I want to put it in” (Seeing how the San Nicolás management model works, it's not at all clear, I know that my claim has not arrived, nor will it reach anywhere).
