Highlights

Enjoy a walking tour around the Rialto area and its market, where you can discover the vibrant and bustling life at the aperitif time in Venice. You’ll visit some characteristic bacari, which are small bars favored by locals and there you’ll be able to taste some “cicchetti” (small appetizers of fish, seafood, meat, or vegetables) and an aperitif or ombra (the typical glass of wine in Venice). It is a Venetian tradition to meet after the work and spend some time at the bacari to catch up on the news of the day.

Accompanied by your knowledgeable guide, feel like a local and enjoy the opportunity to taste the typical Venetian cuisine, that traditionally accompany the aperitif, and three different type of wine in Venice, on this evening tour in the city.

In the second part, you’ll start a walking tour from Campo San Bartolomeo, near the famous Rialto Bridge. Our Venice ghost tour will let you enjoy a fascinating stroll between the Rialto area, Cannaregio and Castello: the itinerary may vary in order to avoid the most crowded areas and introduce you to the more intimate atmosphere that permeates the town at twilight. Discover and enjoy this wonderful city in a way that will conquer and enchant you with new and intense emotions.

This exclusive tour combines an itinerary through the well-known Italian gastronomic tradition and a walk through the mysteries of the city’s evening atmosphere, enriched by ghost stories and local legends, to live a unique experience in Venice.

GO, GO GO - Don't eat before going on the food tour, you will at the stops. Very interesting to try the local food and here how some of them are made. Accommodations can be made if you don't drink alcohol and if you are a vegetarian (it's hard for vegetarians in Venice) If you only do the food tour, you are left at the last restaurant. The ghost tour was great you learn the legend of the Rialto bridge, the church of miracles, various legends of Venice and how to get good luck from one of the site and it work for me.

Great guide very knowledgable but... -
Great guide very knowledgable but very poor value for money, tiny amount of food and you don't leave San Marco. You get one glass of wine and one very small snack per bar and you only go to three bars! Not worth the price. Try another instead.

We arrived at the meeting place as... -
We arrived at the meeting place as the tour had started but caught up with the help of another guide. We visited only 2 Bacari although we did have 2 glasses of wine and 2 appetisers at the first one. The group was very friendly and our older guide very knowledgable about Venice as we wandered through the streets. After settling in at the second Bacari the guide suddenly announced that this was a nice place for dinner if we wanted to stay and she left!! The other people we were with were a bit stunned at this as were we we thought we'd missed something at the beginning and so no Ghost stories. Still a fun couple of hours.

Cancelled Tour Because Tour Guide Didn't Show Up; Refusal to Refund - This was the worst experience I have ever had with a tour company. Our guide DID NOT SHOW UP for the ghost portion of the tour (which was 2/3 of the tour), then we only had approx. 45 minutes with our tour guide Graziella for the food and beverage portion of the tour before she had to go to another tour, and out of the 2 bars we visited with her – 1 refused to serve us anything (no wine or food), and the other only gave us wine (no food) that we had to drink in an alleyway because they were too busy for us. When I contacted Viator regarding a refund, this request was refused because they couldn't verify the tour guide didn't show up - what! After several emails back and forth, they offered a 22.79% for this booking (yes, you read that correctly), which is a total of $36.35. Imagine my surprise when I see a charge of $159.48 for this tour, as opposed to $123.13 on my credit card when I went to dispute the charges because the tour was cancelled. Another interesting fact – this discrepancy was the exact amount they indicated they would refund to me - $36.35, which means not only did they not really issue a refund in my opinion – they seemingly upcharged my credit card to compensate for my complaint. Worst...experience...ever...

Worst tour ever and one of our tours the guide never showed up - The tour description said we’d go to three bars, each offering a drink and food tasting. Our guide gave no explanation and said “follow me”. She walked so quickly, that half the group almost lost her. We then stood outside a bar and were simply asked “red or white”. We got a small Dixie cup sized glass of wine. Then we got a small piece of bread with white fish. Nobody liked it, except for the American Army guy. Then our “guide” came around and asked the same question. We got another glass of wine and another piece of bread with chewy fish. Then our guide told me and my husband to follow her. She walked quickly back to our starting place and that was it. There were others waiting for the ghost tours. We started late because they couldn’t get everyone’s headphones to work. Then we walked and walked and then got a two minute story. Then we walked (possibly in circles?) and got a two minute story. Our guide was monotone and seemed disinterested, nobody seemed to be enjoying themselves. Finally a little after an hour in we were done. We turned in our headphones and left. Once we did this, others quickly followed our lead. We are requesting a refund.

Worst tour of our trip - I thought this tour would have more food stops. Only 2 stops with small bite and small Dixie cup size glass of wine. The ghost story portion kept walking us in circles back to St Marks Square. Felt like that was to make the tour longer. We turned our headsets in early and bailed. Not worth the money.

Terrible time - This was terrible. Tour guide didn’t explain anything about the food, wine, or establishments. We got only 2 of the 3 promised places. Additionally we got left in the alley as the guide carried 2 glasses of wine at a time out of the restaurant. The food/wine tour is separate from the ghost tour, which wasn’t explained. So we walked to the food/wine part, then went back to pick up tons of more people. At that point my group left, especially since it was the same guide that had no personality and didn’t explain anything. Steer away from this tour!!!

The description of this tour seemed... -
The description of this tour seemed intriguing but in actuality it was quite a bore. Some attendees of the tour booked one or the other food or ghost stories but that wasn't presented as an option for us. The tour guide, Barbara, was very nice but the drinks and food were nothing to speak of. A white or red wine at each location- snooze. A tiny bite of one item in each of the 3 locations sometimes we could select ourselves and sometimes not. All in all I think this could have been done much better and I wouldn't recommend to others visiting the area.
