Highlights
  • Cannaregio - We will start at the Brunetti’s house door. The Brunetti family came and went through this front door, which every Brunetti fan can recognize, once you found it!
  • Chiesa di Santa Maria Maddalena - The headquarters of the radical animal protection organization Angelo Animale are located in this palazzo. Two masked figures flee from the side entrance and chase each other with the Commissario and his colleagues. While one of the two escapes, the other is caught and, to Brunetti’s amazement, turns out to be his daughter Chiara.
  • Strada Nova - in this bar Signora Gismondi, the neighbour of the unpopular Signora Battestini, enjoys the last two balls of chocolate ice cream of her life.
  • Cannaregio - After the Commissario has realized that his daughter is a member of the radical animal protection organization Angelo Animale, the two have a discussion in this pub. Due to the murder of Professor Nava, who was formerly employed in the slaughterhouse, Chiara’s so-called animal angels are now the focus of the investigation.
  • Rosa Salva - SS. Giovanni e Paolo - In this bar Vice-Questore Patta used to eat a couple of glasses of grappa too much in this bar. But Vianello also appreciates the bar because of the best café in town and the delicious croissants. The inspector treats himself to a panino prosciutto or a tramezzino with ham and artichoke with a glass of white wine
  • Basilica dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo (San Zanipolo) - This is where Signora Maria’s kiosk is located. She is well informed about the residents of your neighborhood and shows Brunetti the way to the American archaeologist Brett Lynch straight away.
  • Chiesa di San Francesco della Vigna - The tour ends in a place that we cannot miss. We reach the striking columned hall in a campo, through which the employees, visitors or delinquents in the films hurry to the Questura with the famous green door and a portal

Additional Information

Embark on a city tour to visit the settings of your favorite TV series and immerse yourself in the world of Commissario Brunetti, as depicted in Donna Leon’s novels and their film versions. Along the journey, you’ll gain extensive knowledge about Venice! The imaginary Venetian ‘Commissario Brunetti’ has been a popular figure for years. Experience firsthand the stunning film location sites from Donna Leon’s narratives. Tracking down the “campos” and “palazzos” where Brunetti frequently appears is not an easy task, as they are usually away from the city’s famous landmarks and popular tourist attractions. On the contrary, the films are predominantly shot in a Venice that’s more off the beaten track, such as the Questura. The joy of discovering the locations you’ve imagined while watching TV or reading the books, from Brunetti’s initial cases like ‘Acqua Alta’, through ‘Beastly things’ or ‘Suffer the little children’, to the latest, where Raffi and Chiara no longer wish to reside in Venice, is truly delightful.

  • On certain dates, most travelers staying outside of Venice who are planning to visit for the day will be required to pay a €5 access fee. For further details (including exemptions) and to learn what days this fee is applicable, please visit: https://cda.ve.it

Great tour with a very nice guide - We booked the tour "in the footsteps of Commissario Brunetti". Despite the pouring rain, the tour was very interesting. Valerio took us off the beaten track to many of the crime series' filming locations, including the series' "commissioning office". As it was very cold and wet, Valerio treated us to an espresso with a "shot" in a typical Venetian bar. We immediately felt better... thank you very much for that. We also learned a lot of interesting things about the history of Venice from him. Thank you very much Valerio, we recommend you!

Gladly again - Very nice tour away from the crowds. Saw lots of filming locations and learned a lot, even outside of Brunetti. Also got restaurant tips from an insider.

A few tips, but it was still nice 👍 - It was very nice, but it would perhaps be good if you could show photos from the film for each location... Or show a few more locations and explain in which film each location is shown! Still highly recommended, you have to try it out 👍😃
