Today, the Belvedere 21 is a is a thriving art space and meeting place within Vienna’s urban district of the future. The building is considered an architectural icon of post-war Modernism. Initially designed by Karl Schwanzer as the Austrian pavilion for the 1958 World’s Fair in Brussels, it was later adapted for the museum’s purposes and opened in 1962 as the Museum of the Twentieth Century. Under the name 20er Haus, it soon established itself as a vibrant hub. In 2002 the building was transferred to the Belvedere. This construction is acknowledged as a prominent symbol of Post-WWII Modernist architecture. It was originally planned by Karl Schwanzer for the 1958 Brussels World Expo as the Austrian pavilion before it got repurposed for the museum and launched in 1962 as the Museum of the Twentieth Century. It quickly earned a reputation as a lively spot under the moniker 20er Haus. In 2002, the structure was handed over to the Belvedere. After renovation in 2011, it got repositioned as the Belvedere 21 in 2018.

Admission fee is for entry only, without guided tours. Guests can head straight to the museum’s portal and explore the premises on their own.

Conceptual art. - Small gallery with conceptual art exhibitions. Nothing to do with what the Upper and Lower Belvedere host, but it is enriching to see something different and much less crowded.

Modern art but not a vast amount - I'm not a fan of modern art, so I only went here because of the vienna pass. There is a fair amount of work on the teo floors, but to me, it was a quick visit. I'm sure someone who is more into this art style would find this of more benefit and interest.
