Here, you’ll be transported through time as you pass grand palaces adorned with intricate facades and lush green parks offering serene respites. Admire the State Opera House, an architectural masterpiece, and the imposing Rathaus, which exudes grandeur with its neo-Gothic design. Don’t miss the Parliament building’s stately presence and the iconic Burgtheater, a beacon of Vienna’s rich cultural scene. • Heldenplatz - Next up is Heldenplatz (heroes’ square), a grand location steeped in history. Marvel at the imposing statue of Archduke Charles on horseback, a tribute to Austria’s (well, former) military prowess. Take in the majestic Hofburg Palace, former residence of the Habsburg dynasty. Delight in the vast open space, perfect for leisurely strolls, capturing breathtaking photos, or simply sitting in the grass and having a beer. Which is exactly what many Viennese (including me) do!

• The Hofburg - Welcome to the magnificent Hofburg Palace! Step into the world of the Habsburg monarchs as you explore this iconic residence. Admire the intricate architecture of the palace’s facade, adorned with ornate details that reflect centuries of history. You’ll wander through the different parts of the centuries old complex. Each is telling a story of power, prestige, and time, and I’ll guide you through these stories.

With its majestic beauty and rich cultural significance, Hofburg Palace offers a captivating glimpse into Austria’s royal past, leaving visitors in awe of its grandeur and elegance. It’s simply a must-see. Even after living in Vienna for decades, it never ceases to amaze me.

• Kohlmarkt - Next on our tour is the charming Kohlmarkt. Home to the legendary Konditorei (Patisserie) Demel! Prepare to indulge your senses in the decadent delights of Vienna’s finest pastries and confections. As you stroll along this elegant street, adorned with luxury boutiques and historic buildings, the aroma of freshly baked treats from Konditorei Demel will tantalize your taste buds. Step inside this iconic cafe and be transported to a bygone era of sophistication and indulgence. Of course, I know how to get past the long line! After all, noone knows Vienna like the AlpineFoxes.

Treat yourself to a slice of Sachertorte or a delicate Viennese pastry, expertly crafted with the finest ingredients and centuries-old recipes. Then follow me as we pass through one of Vienna’s most luxurious streets. Eating cake while getting a treat for your eyes. It can’t get better than that.

• Inner City - As you venture deeper into Vienna’s first district, prepare to be enchanted by the hidden treasures tucked away in its narrow streets and secret courtyards, known only to locals (you’re lucky I’m with you!).

• St. Stephen’s Cathedral - Your final stop will be the iconic St. Stephen’s Cathedral. A majestic masterpiece from the 14th century. It still dominates Vienna’s skyline! Marvel at its soaring spire, reaching towards the heavens with breathtaking grandeur. As you approach, you’ll be captivated by the intricate details of its Gothic architecture, from the ornate portals to the stunning stained glass windows that illuminate the interior with a kaleidoscope of colors. Step inside and be enveloped by a sense of reverence as you gaze upon the awe-inspiring nave and the majestic high altar.

Surrounded by bustling streets and lively squares, St. Stephen’s Cathedral stands as the beating heart of Vienna. It’s here where young Viennese meet for dates.
