Here, you’ll be transported through time as you pass grand palaces adorned with intricate facades and lush green parks offering serene respites. Admire the State Opera House, an architectural masterpiece, and the imposing Rathaus, which exudes grandeur with its neo-Gothic design. Don’t miss the Parliament building’s stately presence and the iconic Burgtheater, a beacon of Vienna’s rich cultural scene. As you wander along this historic route, each step is a journey into Vienna’s vibrant past and present, promising an unforgettable experience steeped in elegance and charm. And I’ll make sure you find the right path.
  • Heldenplatz - Next up is Heldenplatz (heroes’ square), a grand location steeped in history. Marvel at the imposing statue of Archduke Charles on horseback, a tribute to Austria’s (well, former) military prowess. Take in the majestic Hofburg Palace, former residence of the Habsburg dynasty. Delight in the vast open space, perfect for leisurely strolls, capturing breathtaking photos, or simply sitting in the grass and having a beer. Which is exactly what many Viennese (including me) do!

The Heldenplatz embodies the spirit of Vienna, blending grandeur with modern life in the city, making it a must-visit destination if you really want to get know Vienna.

  • The Hofburg - Welcome to the magnificent Hofburg Palace! Step into the world of the Habsburg monarchs as you explore this iconic residence. Admire the intricate architecture of the palace’s facade, adorned with ornate details that reflect centuries of history. You’ll wander through the different parts of the centuries old complex. Each is telling a story of power, prestige, and time, and I’ll guide you through these stories.

With its majestic beauty and rich cultural significance, Hofburg Palace offers a captivating glimpse into Austria’s royal past, leaving visitors in awe of its grandeur and elegance. It’s simply a must-see. Even after living in Vienna for decades, it never ceases to amaze me.

  • Kohlmarkt - Next on our tour is the charming Kohlmarkt. Home to the legendary Konditorei (Patisserie) Demel! Prepare to indulge your senses in the decadent delights of Vienna’s finest pastries and confections. As you stroll along this elegant street, adorned with luxury boutiques and historic buildings, the aroma of freshly baked treats from Konditorei Demel will tantalize your taste buds. Step inside this iconic cafe and be transported to a bygone era of sophistication and indulgence. Of course, I know how to get past the long line! After all, noone knows Vienna like the AlpineFoxes.

Treat yourself to a slice of Sachertorte or a delicate Viennese pastry, expertly crafted with the finest ingredients and centuries-old recipes. Then follow me as we pass through one of Vienna’s most luxurious streets. Eating cake while getting a treat for your eyes. It can’t get better than that.

Follow your curiosity as you stumble upon secluded courtyards, where time seems to stand still amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. Discover hidden gems like Griechengasse or Blutgasse, where history whispers from every corner, and the atmosphere is imbued with a sense of mystery and intrigue. Lose yourself in the enchanting maze of Vienna’s historic center, where every turn reveals a new delight waiting to be uncovered.

Good thing I know a way out. Although you might not want to leave!

  • St. Stephen’s Cathedral - Your final stop will be the iconic St. Stephen’s Cathedral. A majestic masterpiece from the 14th century. It still dominates Vienna’s skyline! Marvel at its soaring spire, reaching towards the heavens with breathtaking grandeur. As you approach, you’ll be captivated by the intricate details of its Gothic architecture, from the ornate portals to the stunning stained glass windows that illuminate the interior with a kaleidoscope of colors. Step inside and be enveloped by a sense of reverence as you gaze upon the awe-inspiring nave and the majestic high altar.

Surrounded by bustling streets and lively squares, St. Stephen’s Cathedral stands as the beating heart of Vienna. It’s here where young Viennese meet for dates. Old Viennese meet for coffee and a chat. And where many nights out start. It’s also where I’ll leave you. But not before I give you the best tips you’ll need for the rest of your stay. 100% recommended, certainly very soon again:-) - We booked AlpineFoxes as part of a "team day". We were a small group (6 people) and what I want to anticipate: we were all very enthusiastic (from the managing director to the colleagues to my little one who organized the team day). The AlpineFoxes were recommended to me by a colleague who discovered them online during one of the numerous Covid lockdowns in Vienna. I then Googled the contact details, contacted AlpineFoxes by e-mail and, despite a stay abroad, immediately received a short reply (a personal e-mail reply, no absence assistant). After the return I was contacted - as at the promised time - by Claudia. First she asked what I or we imagined and then she put together suggestions for us. After I decided to go on a tour, she gave us some advice for places to eat, because the wish of our manager was to stop for a coffee break and finally a team lunch. Again, Claudia responded to my wishes. She said it wouldn't be a problem, because she can design the route to make this work. We were on time for both the "half-time" and the "final". So much for the organizational and the wishes. The meeting point/personal meeting/guided tour: what should I say/write? The proposed meeting point was central and easily accessible both by public transport and by car. The place was clear and despite the central location not crowded. The welcome was very warm and warm (as if you already knew each other personally). After everyone was "drummed in", Claudia briefly presented the program again and told us that if we had any questions, we could interrupt them at any time and then it started. Although the majority of us are Viennese, we did not even know many houses and their stories. Claudia also told us many details that you didn't know before. Unfortunately, the four hours flew by. We learned so much new during the "walk" or were shown at houses where you have already passed a felt 100 times that you never noticed before and would never have noticed without this tour. Conclusion: 100% recommended!!!!! It's really worth it. You walk through the city - even as a "local" - with a completely different attitude. We will definitely book the AlpineFoxes for a team day again. Thanks dear AlpineFoxes team for the great advice in advance and the super great, very informative walk and hopefully see you soon.:-)
