Additional Information

Our culinary expedition in Vienna commences with a trip to a family-run bakery situated in the city’s 10th district, proceeding from our rendezvous at St. Stephen’s Cathedral. We will travel via subway to this diverse, communal setting. At this location, we will indulge in a delightful local delicacy known as krapfen - a sugary, jam-filled doughnut savored throughout the year but particularly during the period leading up to Lent.

Our journey continues as we take the subway to the city’s 4th district for a visit to an off-the-beaten-path coffee shop. Although not widely recognized, this café serves delectable Austrian pastries including cakes and strudels.

Our last destination is Vienna’s renowned Naschmarkt where we will taste artisanal Austrian chocolates. Concluding our tour, we will unwind with a beverage at a trendy locale in the 7th district.

Though our Vienna food tour’s offerings change according to the season, some delights you may encounter include palatschinken (crepes filled with jam), marillenknödel (apricot dumplings), gugelhupf (a type of bundt cake), and/or Austrian-style ice cream.

Not to Be Missed - With our son and his children (ages 11 and 13) who are adventurous diners we took 2 tours with different guides. Both were fantastic. This is a fun way to experience a wide variety of authentic Austrian food and dessert  gems. The guides were knowledgeable, professional, conscientious, considerate and accommodating. We especially appreciated the use of public transit and exposure to a variety of venues in Vienna. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to be immersed in the superb local cuisine. One caution, be sure to start the tour hungry.

Brilliant tour - We had a brilliant time on the tour with Maria - I would recommend doing it on your first day as you get to go back to the different spots on your break. We ate tons of food, and visited places you wouldn't ever know about without the guide.

The Sweetest Way to Spend an Evening - This was absolutely fantastic. I loved the guide, she was a total sweetheart. We were all Swifties and it was a total party. I loved every food and all the history behind the food and shops. It was interesting but so much fun. Make sure to save room and not overeat at any of the shops because more is always coming and it’s all so good!

Wonderful experience - Maria was an absolute delight. She took us to some amazing spots we never would have found solo. The treats were delicious and her knowledge of culture and food together was a perfect blend. I am grateful that we were able to use the public transit to save some of the walking and she was great at explaining how to get around. Highly recommend both the tour and Maria specifically!

Excellent experience, considerate host - Experience on this tour was excellent. Our host went out of his way to make it the best experience possible for everyone - he asked about dietary restrictions, accommodated alternative food options for a child in the group, and overall just showed much patience and politeness throughout the experience even when some of the other group members were not the easiest to deal with. Of course, the desserts were excellent as well and I loved seeing different parts of the Vienna like a local!

Just awesome!! - Patrick was absolutely phenomenal and fun to listen to! As a native to Vienna, he knew a lot of great information about the city and we absolutely loved the stops he selected for the pastry tour! It was us and one other couple who was very kind. We got a good mix of yummy pastries, ice cream and then some delicious dinner entrees as well! We left full (and on our last stop was kind enough to give us take away as we were full in a good way!!) . Patrick was so informative and kind . It was the first day in Vienna for us and he helped us get metro passes and we were able to use these to navigate all over during the tour!! It was fun to see different areas and he was kind enough to provide a LOT of recommendations both verbally and via email after the tour! This was so worth it and I highly recommend it!

Great in so many ways.. - This excursion is better than a 5 Star rating. Wolfy was our guide at the beginning and a friend at the end. You’ll learn some of the Vienna historical culture along with learning about & trying some of the best food the city has to offer. My only advice…go hungry so you can try everything. This is a 1000% must do on your vacation!

Wonderful tour, wonderful tourguide - We could not have asked for a tastier tour--or a better, nicer, and more informed guide. Maria not only shepherded us to some delicious spots (I'm still daydreaming about the Linzertorte at Vollpension), she gave us insight into the neighborhoods we visited and opened our eyes. I now know how to identify what district of Vienna I am in just by looking at a street sign. Thank you, Maria!
