Highlights
  • Bell Tower of Vilnius Cathedral - As night falls and Vilnius transitions into its nocturnal phase, join a local guide with a red umbrella near the Cathedral Belfry for an evening tour brimming with authentic town tales, myths, and legends. Begin by familiarizing yourself with Vilnius Cathedral and its square, the city’s central hub for centuries and the birthplace of Vilnius. Here, you will encounter what is likely the sixth iteration of the Cathedral, showcasing remnants of Gothic, Romanticism, Baroque, and Classicism styles. Once a major Lithuanian Pagan Shrine, it now houses a mystical painting of St. Casimir, accompanied by an intriguing legend.

  • Lower Castle Museum (Zemutines Pilies Muziejus) - In the western corner of the Lower Castle, you’ll hear a tragic love story about a Lithuanian Grand Duke and his grief following his wife’s death. The castle’s courtyard holds many secrets of Vilnius’ wars, diseases, and numerous graveyards.

  • St. Anne’s Church - Discover the legends surrounding this historic site.

  • St. Michael’s Church (Sv. Mykolo Baznycia) - Hear tales of monks’ deceit and battles near Eustachy Wollowicz Palace and St. Michael’s Church, now home to The Church Heritage Museum.

  • Vilnius Old Town - Wander through the Old Town courtyard and Pilies Street, where you’ll find the still-functional Pagan God Ragutis Shrine.

  • Artillery Bastion (Basteja) - At the Vilnius City Wall Bastion, listen to a variety of mystical legends and amusing stories.

  • Vilnius Old Town - Nearby, visit the Gates of Subacius and the main residence of Vilnius’ executioner, a “persona non grata” among citizens, who was never hired locally.

  • Town Hall (Rotuse) - Conclude your tour at City Hall Square, the executioner’s primary workplace, which once served as the site for torture, executions, and the main town prison.

Ghost tour with Sam - We enjoyed a very entertaining and informative walk through the dark side of Vilnius. Sam made us shiver a few times and did lots of impressive impersonations supported by eye rolling and so on. We spend a great evening and highly recommend the tour! Michaela and Frank from Germany
