Virginia City Gold and Silver mines. - It was a great day out. The guide/driver was really friendly and kept everyone entertained with his commentaries and history of the places we drove through or stopped. The train ride was very interesting and that guide was also good and amusing. I appreciated to have time on our own to wander around Virginia City giving us the chance to look at what we wanted and spend as much time as we wished at different venues of interest. A bit disappointed that the Opera Theater was closed. I’d like to have visited it. The natural scenery was beautiful. Someone had suggested we go into the Bucket of Blood Saloon, but unfortunately they didn’t serve food. We went to the Red Dog Saloon, where we ate a very good pizza. Careful, we asked for a medium size pizza , which I’d call a “Large.” We ended up taking some back in a box. I highly recommend this tour if you’re in the area.

A highly recommended day trip - This was a great day out. The driver/guide was informative and engaging. He took the scenic route from our hotel in South Lake Tahoe and explained every step of the way. Arriving in Virginia City, we saw various former mineshafts and learned the history of the area. It was all new to us and therefore fascinating. The views from Virginia City are simply stunning and wandering around the quaint, historic town, was a joy. We ate at the Red Dog Saloon, which serves a good pizza. Check the sizes before ordering as ‘large’ really means huge.

Va City Train Ride and Tour - Our bus driver was amazing! The train ride was informative but would have been better if there were signs to mark the spots we were seeing! The town of Va City was just okay. To help with the authenticity of the area-it would be nice if no cars were parked on the Main Street.

Boring tour guide, and Virgina City, not well kept. - Having to wait for rude people who went shopping at Target. We had to wait for them to leave. It cut into our time.

Ran out of steam. - Was not impressed. They keep showing an old steam engine but that's not what you get. We had a modern diesel electric. The trip was 15 minutes one way and 15 minutes back. Nothing thrilling. The walk through Virginia City was better. Interesting learning about that old mining town.
