Highlights
  • Kingfisher - Begin your adventure in Virpazar, where the whispers of nature at Lake Skadar blend with the vibrant atmosphere of a bustling fishing village.

Located in Montenegro’s wine region, surrounded by stunning mountains, verdant forests, and pristine waters, this charming town is an ideal starting (or ending) point for your Lake Skadar exploration. Whether you delight in sampling local wines, enjoying colorful sunsets, or savoring local dishes, Virpazar will fulfill your desires. Take the opportunity to explore this village and immerse yourself in the rustic allure of Montenegro’s countryside.

Meet at the Kingfisher’s information desk, where a team member will assist you with check-in. They will verify your reservation vouchers, exchange them for tickets, and guide you through the process smoothly and effortlessly. Once all formalities are complete, we are ready to embark on our adventure!

  • Virpazar - Join us aboard our traditional wooden boat docked at the quaint Virpazar river pier. Prepare for breathtaking views as you glide out of the channel, surrounded by the lake’s lush vegetation.

Marvel at the magnificent mountain ranges of Albania - The Accursed Albanian Mountains and Vranjina, the nearest island, as they rise above one of Southern Europe’s largest lakes. It’s a magical journey where nature’s splendor takes center stage, and this is just the beginning!

  • Lesendro - Navigate left, pass under the Tanki Rt bridge, and be captivated by the enchanting meadows of water chestnuts covering the surface of Lake Skadar. The tranquil atmosphere will soon unveil the stunning Lesendro, an 18th-century fortress gracing the lake’s shores.

Known as Bishops’ Sorrow, this fortress holds a rich historical legacy, dating back to the reign of Petar II Petrović-Njegoš, a significant figure in Montenegro’s history. Strategically located, it once served as a defense against potential enemy threats.

Today, Lesendro and its surroundings attract birdwatching enthusiasts to its diverse ecosystem. Cormorants, herons, and gulls are just a glimpse of the vibrant birdlife waiting to be discovered.

  • Kamenik - Experience the enchanting Amazonian nature of Montenegro as you continue your tour to three wild islands. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery, where the delicate dance of white and yellow water lilies forms an endless carpet across the water. The expansive, dark green leaves gently float between them, creating a captivating tapestry that will leave you in awe.
  • Skadar Lake National Park - Swim in the fresh, deep-blue waters of Lake Skadar with a stunning backdrop of mountain ranges and typical Montenegrin countryside. Relish the views on your return journey with a cup of local wine and take one last deep breath of the lake’s tranquility before heading back to Virpazar.

Family tour of the lake - Nice visit to the lake on a small boat with room bcp and refreshments. The lake is peaceful and beautiful with its birds, mountains and lotuses...and then a small swim allows you to cool off.

Beautiful - The view at Skadar Lake is simply breathtaking! Every moment of the trip was thoroughly enjoyable, and the two hours we spent there felt far too short for such a wonderful experience. Highly recommended!

Great tour but be careful of the parking situation! - Lovely tour, good taste of local wine, spoken in English. Be warned of parking if coming by car. Do not drive into the main area where the satellite navigation will take you as this is a parking tourist trap - someone very unofficial told us that if you have a boat trip reservation you can park there which would be €15 for the day. Park in Parking Virpazar instead which is only a 3 min walk from the site on the opposite road and is free.
