Highlights
  • The Battle of Long Tan - Long Tan Nui Dat battlefield is the most famous battle fought by the Australian Army during the Vietnam War. This battle took place in a rubber plantation. On 18 August 2016 a low-key ceremony was held on the site of the battle; more than 1,000 Australian veterans and their families travelled to Viet Nam to participate in the 50th anniversary commemoration. The tour will begin with a departure for Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province by minivan. The local guide will take you to the site of Long Tan Battlefield where you will visit the former 1st Australian Task Force at Nui Dat. - Nui Dat hill - Our first stop-over is Nui Dat SAS Hill, where you will be shown the helicopter parking and camping areas of soldiers and explained the important sites during the war. You will have an overview of the 4 km circle of the Nui Dat base perimeter. Next, we will visit the rubber forest and pass Mong Ngua Mountain – which was used to be the shelter of Vietnamese soldiers. - The Battle of Long Tan - Afterwards, we continue transferring to Long Tan Cross Memorial to commemorate the Australian and Vietnamese soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the war - Long Phuoc Tunnels - then Long Phuoc Tunnels dug by the Viet Minh and Viet Cong for fighting and sheltering. Long Phuoc Tunnels is our last stop in a half-day tour to Long Tan Nui Dat battlefield. - Ba Ria - We will drive back to Ba Ria for late lunch at a local restaurant. Our tour guide will recommend you some specialties of this land, it all depends on you. After a short rest, you will return to Ho Chi Minh City.

Moving Day At Long Tan and Nui Dat - Wow what a great day with Mr Dingo Chien. Very informative and a man that has vast experience on the history of Australian and Vietnamese service men showed me where my Uncle would have served with SAS 3rd Squadron in 1966 so if you have a link to this place or just want to see where the Aussie forces were based he’s the guy to show you. Many thanks Dingo you’re a legend.

Dingo and the mighty tour of long tan - Friendly, knowledgeable and outstanding! Just a few things I can say about this amazing experience. Very knowledgeable about the history and traditions relating to the battle of long tan and those who served. The tour guide (Dingo) spoke excellent English, very helpful and took us everywhere throughout the area. He always wore a big smile and was happy to crack a joke or 2. I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in the battle of long tan and will recommend this experience to family and friends (aslong as the Dingo shows them the ropes)

Chiens tour - Fabulous trip. Chien was very informative about so many aspects of Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War. When we visited the memorials he had purchased roses for us to lay which was very touching. He also played the Last Post and the Australian national anthem. Both of these acts along with the minute silence were very moving. Lunch was lovely and we couldn’t eat anymore. Our driver was wonderful as every time we got back in the car the Airconditioner was on. A wonderful tour and thank you very much

There ARE things to see at Niu Dat! - Top notch guide. Knowledge and resources bought the past and present together. Told there was nothing to see at Nui Dat. WRONG! Nam able to show me bunkers, flagpole, airforce runway and other features highlighted in old photos.

Great tour and experience in understanding the Vietnam war history - Jack was a great guide who made sure we saw all of the places we wanted to. Jack’s English was really great and he had a strong knowledge of the war history and was also great at sharing everything we needed to know about the Vietnamese culture. He is clearly passionate about his job and came prepared with lots of information to make sure we got the most out of the day. We had a lovely lunch which again Jack helped us with all the cuisine.
