Must see! - I loved the tour of the plantation. Seeing how they propagate be plants from the ones they have was fascinating. Seeing the process of turning the fresh picked leaves into trees was also a highlight. The tea tasting and gift shops were great too.

Wonderful experience at Wadmalaw Tea Garden - This tour was great! The tour guide was very pleasant and an all around nice guy, easy to talk to and answered everyone's questions. The process for growing tea and harvesting it was very interesting. The tour was very informative on all aspects of the tea business. The drive leading to the Tea Garden is beautiful. There is a really nice gift shop. We just wish we had planned this tour better and had more time to spend there. We will definitely return to the Wadmalaw Tea Garden the next time we come to Charleston!

Nice Stop at the Charleston Tea Garden - The Charleston Tea Garden is a clean, well maintained facility. We found the staff to be very friendly. We did do the trolley tour. It was informative. We both enjoyed this stop. I wouldn't go far out of my way to do it, but if you're in the area, sure.

Enjoy a relaxing afternoon on a plantation near Charleston. - Charleston Tea Garden is a 30 minute drive out of Charleston, in a fairly isolated area. It is well worth a visit. It is the only tea plantation in North America, so quite unique. We thoroughly enjoyed the trolley ride around the plantation; we highly recommend it. We also took the factory tour, and did some shopping in the gift store. It's a great place to pick up gifts for friends and family, and they have an amazing selection of teas.

This will open you eyes about TEA and the making of the final product. - Amazing tour information and guide. I would highly recommend this. My wife and I are from Indiana and this stop was on our road trip agenda. It's a must see and do if your schedule allows. You won't be disappointed. At least my wife and I were not!

Wonderful Last minute Add-On to Charleston Visit - We were visiting Charleston for the House & Garden tours and had our last day to enjoy other things before our night flight and thankfully my friend had seen this spot to check out. We truly enjoyed our drive to the area and the visit to the Tea Garden. We purchased trolley tour tickets in advance and arrive a bit early so we enjoyed the factory tour first--yes, this would be more interesting if it was harvest season May-Oct to actually see the machine process, but still very informative! Getting to enjoy hot or iced teas during our visit was a big plus! We all came home with tea purchases! The trolley tour was very interesting and John was friendly and informative. Would highly recommend this stop if you are in the area!

Dirty bathroom, trolley not accessible, gift shop had no souvenirs! - I thoroughly enjoyed the trolley tour of the plantation. I am a tea drinker since childhood and I was interested in seeing mature tea plants and learn how tea is harvested and made. We were too early in the season to see the factory actually in use, but there were videos of how things operated. It was worthwhile for those two purposes. Now the negative... The plantation was in the middle of nowhere, so it was a fairly long drive to get there. Of course the first thing you want to do is use a bathroom... UGH!!! The lady's bathroom was VERY POORLY maintained and REALLY dirty! They apparently hold weddings there... ladies you DO NOT want to walk into that place in your "special day" dress! No! I'm handicapped and use a mobility aid. The trolley had no wheelchair lift at all. If you can't walk up 2 or 3 steep stairs, you are out of luck. No trolley tours for you! I CAN manage a few steps with pain, but many can't. There WAS a wheelchair lift to get up to the factory floor. When I travel I always like to bring home either a souvenir lapel pin or a keychain to hang on my Holiday tree (a strange practice, but that's what I like!) The gift shop was filled with lots of the expensive things you would find in any Charleston gift shop, but virtually none of it had the Tea Plantation logo, so worthless as a souvenir! Why? This is not someplace I would visit again.
