A comprehensive view of how slavery was implemented and how it impacted on the - If you want a plantation tour that emphasizes the effects of slavery, this is it. We found the tour interesting and very informative. We had just enough time to complete the tour. There was also a stop on the way back where we could view another plantation, albeit from outside the gate.

Good Tour of Whitney Plantation - Larry "Bam Bam" was our bus driver out to Whitney plantation. He was funny, informative, and a good driver. The tour was perfectly timed to 2 hours. Plenty of time to see and experience everything. The gift shop has a great number of books, jewelry, and handmade goods. There are cold drinks and snacks as well. Whitney plantation is from the view of the slave, and Oak Alley is more from the view of the Plantation owners. I'm glad I chose to also go to Whitney.

An important piece of our history - A very good experience. Our bus driver and bus guide were great. Excellent audio guide. The Whitney Plantation should be part of everyone’s New Orleans experience.

Whitney Plantation great tour - Extremely hot but well thought out, areas to sit areas to cool down. The pre recorded tour was again well thought out and easy to use. It certain not covered everything all topics discussed no matter how painful, it certainly shows the human race to be brutal, have we learnt from our mistakes, mostly I would say yes but there are always the few… Overall really thought provoking great tour

Great tour but felt a little rushed - Very good and detailed look from the slaves point of view. The audio guide clear and easy to listen to as well as follow. This is an educational tour and not suited for younger kids. Bus driver Michelle was great and staff members along the tour were very helpful. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that I thought I read we would have 2 hours for the tour, we only got about hour and half once we were handed our MP3 set. We felt a little rushed. Other than that highly recommend the tour.

Thought provoking two hours - The minibus arrived on time but the driver gave minimal commentary along the way. The mini bus was sign written with “ghost tours” which cased some general confusion. Journey from French quarter was 1 hour 10minutes. The tour was self tour with handset and headphones which worked well. All very thought provoking. We stayed for 2 hours before returning. I think perhaps it would be better to do a trip offering 2 plantations as it seemed a waste to travel all that way to just see one.

Awesome Tour. Transportation not so much - The Whitney Plantation tour is undoubtedly a 5-star must-see experience. The self-guided audio provides a profound and somber understanding of how the plantations of that era were operated and the immense human toll they exacted. This tour stands apart from the typical "oh-ah" admiration of magnificent houses and plantations, offering a more thought-provoking and educational journey. However, the transportation provided by Cajun Tours Transportation falls short, earning a 3-star rating and leaving much to be desired. Upon reaching our pickup spot, a beautiful bus with the Cajun Tour logo initially raised our expectations, but they were dropping of not picking up. What arrived was one of those car rental van/bus that takes you from the airport to the lot 5 minute away. This vehicle, lacking the Cajun Tour logo, delivered a less-than-pleasant 50/60-minute drive experience. The ride was characterized by harsh bangs and unsettling rattles. A very stiff suspension reacting to every bump in the road, and a loud whining engine when we got on the highway. While the driver seemed nice enough, their driving skills left room for improvement. Erratic speed changes, inconsistent pacing, and an overall failure to maintain the appropriate speed limit were notable issues. Moreover, the positioning of the van in the middle lane, with other vehicles passing on both sides, instead of adhering to the right lane for our slower speed, added to the discomfort of the journey. Regrettably, based on this transportation experience, I cannot confidently recommend Cajun Tours Transportation. The discrepancy between the exceptional Whitney Plantation tour and the lackluster transportation service significantly impacts the overall recommendation for this company.

Terrible - They cancelled the tour with only an hour to go, with just a proforma email not explaining the circumstances, which were that there weren't enough people booked on for the tour to go ahead. They say they tried to call but we didn't get any call, and even if that's the case, why not follow up with a proper explanation email instead of just a standard cancellation notification that then caused us uncertainty, and cost us money in having to call them for an explanation? When I communicated my frustration about all this, they just said 'sorry you feel that way' in a tone that communicated anything but regret at spoiling our day. Then i find out that it'll take 8-10 days for the money to get back into my account! It's unforgivable to cancel at such late notice, taking away any opportunity we might have had to plan something else for our last day in New Orleans, and also taking away any opportunity we had to see the plantation at all, which had been a big part of why we came to NO in the first place. They ruined the end of what had been a lovely holiday. So don't leave anything to chance: book your plantation tour with another operator
