Highlights
  • U.S. Capitol - The Capitol Building is the centerpiece of a 450-acre Capitol Campus, which includes the House and Senate office buildings, the U.S. Botanic Garden, the Library of Congress, and the Supreme Court. The Capitol is surrounded by 59 acres of meticulously maintained grounds, originally landscaped in 1892 by Frederick Law Olmsted, who also designed New York City’s Central Park. Wander along the winding paths and enjoy the flower beds and memorial trees. Before approaching the Capitol, take a moment to step back and admire the “Statue of Freedom,” a 19-foot-tall bronze female figure that crowns the Capitol’s dome.
  • White House - The White House serves as the official residence and main workplace of the President of the United States. Situated at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C., the house was designed by Irish-born James Hoban and constructed between 1792 and 1800 using white-painted Aquia sandstone in the Neoclassical style. It has housed every U.S. president since John Adams. When Thomas Jefferson moved in in 1801, he, along with architect Benjamin Henry Latrobe, expanded the building outward, adding two colonnades intended to conceal stables and storage areas.
  • Lincoln Memorial - This stunning and poignant tribute to the nation’s 16th president draws millions of visitors each year. Like other presidential memorials, the Lincoln Memorial took a long time to come to fruition. Although it was planned as early as 1867, just two years after Lincoln’s death, Henry Bacon’s design was not completed until 1912, and the memorial was dedicated in 1922. Join Loba Tours for a tour in Washington DC to learn about one of Lincoln’s many legends!
  • National World War II Memorial - The U.S. National World War II Memorial honors Americans who served in the armed forces and as civilians during World War II. Featuring 56 pillars and a pair of arches surrounding a plaza and fountain, it is located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on the former site of the Rainbow Pool at the eastern end of the Reflecting Pool, between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument.

Nice overview of major DC sites - My wife and I had one more day in DC after visiting some of our usual favorite museums etc. We booked the Viator tour for an overview of the favorite landmarks. The bus was a little late but it took us to Captial, White House, FDR memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korea memorial, MLK memorial as promised. The driver told us about sites as we passed them. We got our money's worth. Nice trip!

I don't recommend - Very hard to understand the guide. Recited facts, very quickly almost as if reading from an encyclopedia. I know he wasn't reading and his memory was impressive but it was very dry and hard to follow. Slower speech and telling stories vs. reciting facts would have been much more pleasurable. Also found it inappropriate when the guide called and yelled at a couple that were late returning to the bus
