Highlights
  • White House - Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the magnificent White House in Washington, DC. We are currently on the north side, which serves as the ceremonial entrance.
  • Eisenhower Executive Office Building - Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the iconic Eisenhower Executive Office Building. Our next stop “rises like a tiered wedding cake to the west of the White House.” Built in 1888 by Alfred Mullett, the Eisenhower Executive Office Building (later named after the 34th president) originally housed the State, Navy, and War Departments.
  • Renwick Gallery - James Renwick, the architect behind St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City and the Smithsonian Castle on the National Mall, lends his name to our next destination—the red-brick Renwick Gallery, which he completed in 1874.
  • Blair House - The Blair House served as a temporary residence for Harry S. Truman from 1948 to 1952 while the White House was being renovated.
  • Decatur House - This unassuming brick townhouse on the corner, known as the Decatur House, played a significant role in Washington’s political and social life. It was named after Stephen Decatur.
  • St. John’s Church - Since its founding in 1815, every U.S. president has worshipped at St. John’s.
  • General Andrew Jackson Statue - At the center of Lafayette Square stands a statue of the 7th U.S. president, Andrew Jackson.
  • United States Department of the Treasury - We will conclude our tour of Lafayette Square with another “Hamilton” reference, right here at the Department of the Treasury.

Scam - What a waste of money. I thought this was an in depth White House tour. It was a very long walk around a very big block with more information about the buildings around the White House than the White House itself. A lot of music was played while it took time to get to all these other structures. Very disappointed.
