Highlights

Switched on Bikes - Our shop is the starting point for your tour. We’re centrally based at Queens Wharf on the Wellington Waterfront and have a cafe on site if you arrive early.

We’ll set you up on your bike with a helmet and provide you with full instruction on how to use your eBike (it’s easy!). We’ve got a large car-free space to get used to riding before we set off.

Wellington Waterfront - Our store is based on the Wellington Waterfront. From close to our store you can see the inter-island and local ferries coming and going and you might be lucky enough to spot stingrays, seals and even the occasional dolphin!

The Wellington Waterfront hosts many events and markets through out the year and is a happening place when the sun is out!

Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa - We’ll stop outside Te Papa as it’s a central landmark of Wellington on the waterfront. It’s New Zealand’s national museum and we’ll tell you about the current exhibitions. It’s just a short walk from our shop if you want to look through at the end of your bike tour.
Oriental Bay - We’ll ride past on the cycle path beside the beach. We’ll stop for photos and see how popular this beach spot is on a sunny day!
Mount Victoria - We’ll be riding along the coast at the base of Mt Victoria for much of the tour. There are plenty of photo opportunities with Mt Victoria forming the backdrop of your shot.
Maupuia Walkway - For the best photos over-looking Wellington and the surrounding bays we put the bikes on ‘turbo’ and head up to the top of Miramar Peninsula. From the top you’ll have enough time for photos and we’ll tell you a Maori tale of how Wellington Harbour was formed.
Cog Park - This is our cafe stop, where a tea or coffee is included in the price of the tour. The beautiful harbour and yachts docked make a stunning backdrop for photos to take back home.
Switched on Bikes - This is the end of the tour. You’re centrally located and are only 5min walk away from Wellington’s iconic Cable Car, 10min from the NZ Parliament or Te Papa.

Additional Information

Whether you prefer the buzzing Waterfront area or the serene bays and breathtaking overlooks, this journey will captivate you from beginning to end. The high-quality electric bikes we provide are user-friendly and simplify the task of climbing hills. If you can operate a regular bike, handling an eBike will not be a problem for you! A safety-oriented guide will accompany you, equipping all participants with helmets and offering comprehensive cycling instructions. This engaging, entertaining tour lasts 3-4 hours, mainly focusing on biking and spotting the finest views in the area. You’ll gain insights into the local culture and history of our lively city and nearby bays from a native’s viewpoint.

A minimum of 2 people per booking is required

Please dress appropriately. Bring an extra layer in case or wind
Riders must advise height if under 59 inches (150cm)
Remember to bring sunscreen in summer
Riders must be able to ride a bicycle on the road

Queens Wharf

If you haven't booked a port pick up and you're making your own way to the start point, you take the free port operated shuttle bus into the city and get off at either of the two stops- you can't walk from the port. From there we're about a 10-15min walk. Ask directions to Queens Wharf.

Awesome city bike tour - This tour was fantstic. Carly was an amazing tour guide. Very fun. She had awesome cultural insight and a lot of knowledge of Wellington and NZ and its history. Highly recommend. Such a great way to see this city.

Fun ride - Very nice bike ride along the water. Jack and Ryan were great tour guides and made sure we were safe. Bikes worked well and were very easy to use. Ice cream at the end was a bonus.

Great tour - Great experience. Tour was informative and easy ride. Recommend this tour to anyone considering it. Jake and Cara made sure everyone was kept safe throughout the tour.
