Take a break from city life and explore the 42km-long Great Western Greenway, Ireland’s longest off-road cycle and pedestrian trail. The world-class facility is a car-free zone that follows the historic Westport-Achill rail track, which ceased operation in 1937. The Greenway winds along the Irish Atlantic coast, linking Westport and Achill Island, and includes stops in the scenic villages of Newport and Mulranny. The trail presents panoramic mountain views and stunning sights of Clew Bay and its numerous islands. The cycling trails around Westport attest to the awe-inspiring landscapes you’ll traverse. The local Council, Tourism Sector, businesses and inhabitants have collaborated to forge a ‘Bike-Friendly’ environment, making it Ireland’s hub for cycling and outdoor activities.
Mount your electric bike and prepare to revel in the splendors of the area.
