Fantastic tour - We did both the tour of Windsor and the tour of London the day before. Moses was our guide both days. What a fantastic time! Moses is very knowledgeable about everything, introduced us to things we might never have visited, and was patient, articulate, and kind. We had plane trouble and I was unable to reach him by phone from the plane (my fault). We were thus 2 hours late for our first tour. He still waited for us at our hotel and was very kind about the issue. I also want to note that when I had to cancel this same trip for 5 the year before due to a health emergency, Angela not only reimbursed me for that trip, but went much farther and spoke directly to Buckingham Palace reps to ask them to hold my tickets for 5 for a year after the BH reps initially refused to reimburse me. And THAT tour wasn't even made through Black Taxi Tours! Angela was simply being kind and helpful to someone in need. I highly recommend this service. Made for a wonderful trip.

The history of Monarchs and democracy with Tim - My children, grandchildren, and I had the great pleasure of two Black Hat Taxi private tours in London with Tim Brosnan in October 2022, and both were fabulous. Tim is a knowledgeable and very entertaining guide whom I strongly recommend for a great English experience. This review is for the tour we took to Windsor Castle. Tim, who had already shown us London’s pop culture, was now going to show us some of England’s most traditionally historic spots, and he did a great job of it! After picking us up at the hotel, Tim headed for Windsor and pleasantly surprised us with a stop along the way at Runnymede where, just over 800 years ago, the Magna Carta and, with it, constitutional democracy were born. Runnymede today is a beautiful park with wonderful sculptures to commemorate the history made there, including American memorials recognizing the role that the Magna Carta played in American as well as English history. We were there on a misty fall morning and almost alone in the park. As Tim told his stories, we felt the spirits of King John and his Barons as they formed the foundations of democratic governance that prevail around the world today. Thanks for the nice surprise, Tim! We then went on to Windsor Castle to experience life of the Royals. Our visit was about a month after Queen Elizabeth II’s passing, so we were among the crowds paying homage to her Majesty and the new King. Once we got into the castle grounds, there were limits on how much Tim could “guide” our tour since that job was restricted to the Windsor Castle guides. However, Tim stayed with us the whole time and ensured that we saw all there was to see in our limited time there. Additionally, while he stayed within the rules of how much “guiding” he could do, he did ensure that we didn’t miss details of interest. He seemed to have relationships with the Windsor guides so that, when there was a story he couldn’t tell, Tim knew the right Windsor guide that could. In this way, Tim made Windsor the most memorable castle tour I’ve ever experienced. Most extraordinary was our time in St. George’s Chapel where many Kings and Queens are interred. Tim surprised us with the news that they had just opened viewing to the Memorial Chapel where Queen Elizabeth II is buried. With neither crowds nor queues, we had a memorable moment to reflect on the Queen’s memorable life. From that spot, Tim led us to a guide in St. George’s Chapel who “had a story to tell.” It turned out that the guide was the descendent of an aristocrat who had, centuries earlier fallen from favor with the Monarchy and had been killed and then dragged from of the basement of the chapel in dishonor. Tim made sure we heard this story with all the color, reverence, and a sense of appreciation that, for all the sins of his ancestor, the Chapel guide was happy to be alive! I pondered that thought as I walked by Henry VIII’s burial site on the way out. What a remarkable experience, largely thanks to Tim Brosnan’s guiding hand. After our Windsor Castle tour we walked around the town for a bit and then Tim joined my family for fish and chips overlooking the Thames. In addition to some lessons on how to properly apply vinegar to the fish and chips, Tim was a wonderful conversationalist with stories of growing up in London and his earlier life as a pub owner. I’ve been to many countries and taken many guided tours and there were none led by a better guide than Tim Brosnan. He knew what he was doing at every turn, and he conveyed his stories to us in ways that were always both informative and entertaining. If you get a chance to take a ride with Tim, don’t miss it!

Great Day Trip to Windsor - My son and I had a great trip to Windsor Castle! Our guide Steve was fantastic - very personable and knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the history of the castle as well as the surrounding towns of Windsor and Eton. And he was accommodating to our last minute adjustment to our itinerary due to some changes in our travel plans.
