Wander through the streets, tracing the path of Martin Luther and his contemporaries. It’s hard to imagine this tranquil town as the epicenter of one of the most famous religious upheavals globally. The happenings that transpired here in the 1500s altered the core of Christendom. This is the place where Martin Luther lived and spread his teachings, and on October 31, 1517, he affixed his 95 Theses to the Castle Church’s door. The Protestant Reformation was set in motion. Occasionally referred to as the ‘Protestants’ Rome’, numerous Luther commemorative locations were incorporated into the UNESCO world heritage list in 1996.

A Good Luther History Tour - I had a great couple of hours with my tour guide, Silvio. He was helpful and informative and made sure I was taken care of - he even took me to my hotel's entrance to ensure I knew where it was located. My only regret was that the Luther house was closed for renovation, and the first Protestant church was not open, but that was not Silvio's fault. Recommended.
