The Noravank Monastery complex was built in the 13th century on a ledge of a narrow winding gorge of the Amaghu River. The gorge is renowned for its steep red cliffs that tower behind the monastery. During the reign of the Orbelian princes, the monastery became a significant religious center, and in the 13th-14th centuries, it served as the residence of the bishops of Syunik and thus became a major spiritual and later cultural center of Armenia, closely associated with many local educational institutions, primarily the famous Gladzor university and library. -

200 km from Yerevan, near the town of Sisian, lies a prehistoric site consisting of hundreds of vertically arranged large stones with through holes at the top. It is situated on a mountain plateau at an altitude of 1,770 meters above sea level and covers an area of more than 7 hectares on the left bank of the Dar river gorge, a tributary of the Vorotan River.
