Great day in the moors & whitby - What a great day with Mark as our driver and guide. Informative and well paced with a morning and afternoon stop to enjoy local villages (& their baked goods). A longer stop in Whitby which was enough to stroll past the Abbey and through the main shopping laneways plus lunch at the Magpie. Unfortunately we had a pea-soup fog so missed the views. I took the optional extra of a Steam Train trip which was really enough to enjoy the ride while being value for money (compared to similar but pricier tours that seem to price the whole train trip in). Mark was so kind and solicitous of our well being. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Great day out with excellent guide, John - This 8 hour trip was through beautiful and varied countryside. Our driver guide, John was very informative and I learned so much about local history but broader British history as well. Highly recomended.

Interesting tour with a beautiful stay in Whitby - Although the weather was not the best, I enjoyed the trip extremely. We were only 4 at this tour and our driver Mark explained and told us so much about the country, about Yorkshire and Whitby. Thanks so much Mark! Whitby is a very busy beautiful little town at the seaside. All the little shops and restaurants and bars are made to have a good time there. Also the Abbey is worth a visit.

Outstanding holiday in Whitby and North York with Mark and BOBH Day tours - Another amazing and memorable trip finely managed by tour guide Mark. Mark from BOBHolidays started the day at 9 am and greeted all of us - the seven tourists who were joining the tour from USA, Canada, Singapore, and India. Travelling through the highlands while listening to Mark's wealth of knowledge, the first stop was at Byland Abbey. In the middle of no where the Byland Abbe is an absolutely stunning architecture which stands tall and reminds us of its extravagance where it was in full totality. Built in 1154 there is so much to absorb from this place. Wish Henry VIII has kept the Abbey intact for us to still enjoy the architectural brilliance. We also stopped at the beautiful town of Hemsley where we enjoyed the award winning Sausage roll from Hunters of Hemsley. Do not forget to stare at William Baron Feversham whose statue stands tall in the heart of Hemsley. We also enjoyed a cup of coffee at the Vinehouse Cafe which is a short walk by the church. You can also see their horses grazing or lazing in the stables. After Hemsley we took a few stops to enjoy the vast landscapes and learnt about the sheep flocks of the villagers. The contrasting stop of dried Heather plants, the vast highland landscapes, flowing into the mountains was breathtaking. I will come back to see the purple and lavendar views of the Heather plants. Our long stop was at Whitby - what an awesome introduction of Whitby and James Cook by Mark. He stopped in front of James Cook's statue which I was staring at in awe and thinking about so much he had achieved in his voyages in his short life of 50. From the James Cook statue we could also see the vast Whitby Abbe and the spiralling staircases in the horizon and the surrounding sea. Breathtaking views. Mark took us around the town and parked the BOB Holidays van and gave us nearly 2 hours to explore the city. We immersed into an awesome lunch at QUAYSIDE. Definitely try their Cod fish and chips and Griddled Sea Bass. We tried both and they were amazing. There are some other great restaurants around like Magpie Cafe and many other choices. Also good ice cream shops and tea rooms to sit back and enjoy. We took 99 steps to the Whitby Abbey. Also walked by the beach and into the pier to take some great photos. The sea gulls added to the beauty of the place. After spending an amazing 2 hours at Whitby we stopped at Goathland station and remembered Harry Potter. Also took some photos for memory. Mark drove back to York and shared more interesting stories on the way and ended the trip with some strong dinner recommendations. If you are in York, please book this trip with BOB Holidays and definitely recommend Mark.

Great relaxed & informative trip from York! - This trip from York could not have been easier to book & was exactly as advertised & great fun. An extra shout out to the friendly driver/guide - Mark (didn't get a last name/initial) who was a wealth of knowledge & pointed out interesting facts & trivia about the places we stopped at. He also made it a point to ask us our names & a bit about ourselves & engaged us & our tour mates in conversation during the drive so it seemed more like a relaxed day out with friends as opposed to a tourist trip. Would use this company again for other day trip whenever back in the area.
