Fun and Interesting, a great guide to all parts of York. - My husband and I were going on a weekend away in York and I wanted something that would help us explore the city and maybe help us to spot the unusual sights of the city. This guide did not disappoint, we did it over two days and we kept wanting to explore further the places the book introduced us to but I suspect if you go through it in a determined fashion you could complete it in 4 hours with stops for tea or beer along the way. Its great fun, the puzzles aren't always easy and do need a little bit of puzzling but they are manageable and the answers are in the back if you get stuck. The directions are spot on so no fear of getting lost. Great for all ages. We saw other families and groups doing the same tour as us so it is obviously proving popular. It took us to places in the city wouldn't otherwise have seen and also took us to all the famous landmarks too. Doing this tour made our trip.

A super way to learn more and have fun. - A superday out! Living an hour away from York we have visited the city occasionally before but this was the first time my teens had properly looked round. As others have said the Mystery Guide let's you find places you never knew existed.... Who knew there was a Tudor Barley Hall hidden down an easily missed alley?!? The timing is about right taking just over 3hrs. About 8000 steps if you're counting. TOP TIP 1. Wear comfy sensible shoes ... the route includes the amazing city walls which are narrow, slippy and uneven. 2. We used the Park and Ride from Askham Bar.... £3.30 per adult for a return and under 18s were free! (Correct for today _ Feb 1/2 term). It is right off the A64 and way easier than trying to drive into the city centre and paying £15 to park for the day. 3. Be mindful of your start time. One of the later clues was on the war memorial but we were losing the daylight and the monument is not illuminated. This meant we could not read the relevant inscriptions - luckily the answer is guess able and the extra clues are helpful for situations like this. All in my teens expressed some initial scepticism, but were quickly fully invested in the hunt. A super day out. Next will be our neighbouring city of Sheffield... can't wait to unearth details I will no doubt have missed. Buy guides on the 3 for price of two offer. A bit like those oval potato snacks... once you do one you'll want to do more.

Great idea, great town, clever puzzles, great experience - What a great idea! These guides get you walking around historic places and streets you might never go on, getting you to look out for things you'd probably walk by without the guide's suggestions. On the York one we were able to visit 3 different pubs as well, ending up in the original building where Guido Fawkes was actually born. We experienced a new side of York thanks to the Mystery Guide. These stimulate the brain as well with clever puzzles to solve. I would highly recommend for all ages. We have already got the Edinburgh guide to do next.

We loved it!!!! - Rather than wander aimlessly around York, the Treasure hunt gave us a tour of the city, along with some refreshment stops. We would thoroughly recommend using these guides to take you to places you would not normally go. Thanks again😁😁😁👍

Brilliant! - On the last day of our week's holiday, myself and my daughter decided to do this Treasure Hunt. We both felt it was one of the best days we had. Such great fun! And a real sense of achievement when we had solved the mystery. I was glad we'd had a chance to explore the city a bit before doing the hunt, but we were amazed at how much we hadn't seen before. It is an amazingly well thought out hunt, which I would highly recommend. I will definitely do more if I have the chance, and have already recommended to family and friends!

Easy few hours - We enjoyed doing this, although a very wet day meant we didn't get the best out of it. Good to see different bits of the city. Not too difficult

A grand day out! - An excuse for a day out in York. Overall a very enjoyable experience where we saw parts of York that we had not seen before and learned new things we didn’t previously know. Road works and other obstructions blocked part of the route which was frustrating but not insurmountable. I found some clues a little obtuse but this maintained interest. One clue was hidden by a closed door(assumed) but clues at the back of the book help resolve this problem. I would recommend taking on this challenge as distraction from your usual tourist/shopping trip. Looking forward to visiting Edinburgh and Nottingham for future challenges.
