Highlights
  • Lake Barrine - Enjoy a river cruise and lunch with a view of the crater lake.
  • Curtain Fig National Park - This park safeguards the endangered Mabi forest, known for its semi-deciduous canopy trees that allow plenty of light to reach the forest floor. It features a remarkable fig tree with extensive aerial roots creating a dramatic “curtain” effect. The strangler fig, which started from a seed high in the canopy, gradually overtook its host tree, resulting in a freestanding fig tree estimated to be over 500 years old, nearly 50 meters tall, with a trunk circumference of 39 meters.

Blue Adventures Wildlife tours is partnering with ReForest Australia to plant trees and help restore the region to its pre-industrial logging state.

  • Granite Gorge Nature Park - Our private wildlife tours include a visit to Granite Gorge Nature Park, where you can observe the Mareeba rock-wallaby (Petrogale mareeba). This rare rock-wallaby species, native to the Mareeba area, was officially recognized in 1992. It’s an opportunity to experience the unique biodiversity of the region firsthand.

Truly Amazing Day! - We signed up for the Small Group Wildlife Tour, and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip to Australia. We lucked out and ended up with a private tour, as no one else had signed up. Their loss for sure! Our guide Ben was phenomenal. From pickup to drop off and every minute in between, he was a delight. Warm, personable and very knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife we were seeing, we really enjoyed spending the day with him. Though we have to confess that, as great a guide as he was, the animals were the stars of the day. Who knew you could find large numbers of kangaroos hanging out at a golf course? Getting up close to them in our golf carts was definitely a thrill. Other highlights included spotting several platypuses. There is no guarantee you will see them, but we got lucky that day. My favorite part was probably having endangered rock wallabies eating from my hand. Adorable. A beautiful boat ride on the serene volcanic Lake Barrine, and delicious meals rounded out that day. It was a truly magical experience, and we have Ben’s fabulous photos taken that day to prove it. Don’t miss it!

Highlight of our time in Australia! - Our family of 5 spent 2 1/2 weeks in Australia over Christmas and NYE and this tour was absolutely the highlight of the entire trip! Ben was so knowledgeable about the history and animals for our day. What an amazing asset to your team! Our children have taken to saying, “Be Like Ben”! He is an inspiration!! We saw all of the animals on the list; rock wallabies, platypus, kangaroos, multiple birds and lizards, bats, eels and fish! While we were expecting to see the animals we were surprised at how much information he shared. Our kids learned more in that one day from Ben than they have ever come close to learning from a book at school. This trip was worth every penny, in fact you should probably raise your prices! Thank you so much for such a unique and memorable day. I can not recommend this excursion enough!!

Wildlife Adventures - Ben was our guide. We had a great time. He was very informative and a fun conversationalist. We saw kangaroos, fed wallabies, found platypus, found bats, petted eels, saw all different birds. The curtain fig tree was amazing. The lunch spot was very good. I would highly recommend! A fun day!

Great Tour! - This is a great tour if you're interested in seeing more of what Queensland has to offer and animals in the wild! Ben was our tour guide and his genuine enthusiasm of what he was showing us was evident through his energy and level of knowledge. Our group was also super lucky to see a cute platypus because Ben had scheduled in some time for us to take a second trip back. (Apparently, the chances are super slim in November). I highly recommend!

Rainforest and Wildlife Private Tour - Just incredible! We asked to try to see Platypus and Tree Kangaroo and were taken to key sites along with other interesting spots during the day which included Bower Birds, Amethystine Python, Snapping Turtle and amazing Curtain Fig Tree. Great success with both Platypus and Tree Kangaroo largely down to the knowledge of our guide Ben who knew exactly where to look and also the behaviours of the animals to maximise the chance of seeing them. Ben was a great guide being incredibly knowledgeable about the flora, fauna, history and geology of Australia. An amazing and perfect day. Thanks Ben and Blue Dive. 10 out of 10. Incredible. Highly recommended and I have undertaken numerous private guided tours.

Don’t miss this tour! - Had the most amazing day with Ben who is easily the best and most knowledgeable tour guide I’ve ever had the pleasure of spending a day with. We saw more varieties of animals in one day, (including duck billed platypuses!) than I’d hoped to see In the whole trip! We also saw huge fruit bats, met an emu, saw hundreds of kangaroos, and had more birds pointed out and described that you can imagine. Can’t wait to view the USB of all the pics Ben took for us. 5 stars all the way. Thanks Ben!!

Wildlife Adventures - Really enjoyed seeing all the different animals of Australia. Mark was a very friendly and informative tour guide. His explanations were helpful in gaining an understanding of Australia and the different animals; he was very knowledegable. Favorite parts of the trip were the feeding of the wallabies and driving the golf cart to see the many, many kangaroos. The only down side is the trip does entail a bit of driving around to get to the different viewing locations. Mark was so thoughtful and considerate providing us with photos of the day via email. Allowed us to really enjoy being there and not worrying about capturing that special photo on our own.
