Additional Information

This excursion is brought to you by a local resident.

You’ll have the opportunity to discover Zurich’s least known attractions during this two-hour walking tour. The initial stop is a covert medieval tunnel hidden behind an almost imperceptible, locked door. It’s so subtly placed that even long-term Zurich residents are frequently unaware of its existence.

We’ll then visit the only surviving portion of the 13th-century city wall along with the city’s original water supply system, ingeniously concealed in the basement of a contemporary structure.

Our quest will proceed through a concealed entrance located on the floor of a popular park. Thousands of pedestrians traverse this spot daily, oblivious to the hidden gateway. Descending through this portal, you’ll come across the historical boundaries of a Roman fortification and the Royal Castle from the Middle Ages!

Best tour ever ! - Our guide Douglas was spectacular, we got to know all the detailed insights about the historical aspects of Zurich, and have explored places we didn't know one could even see of Zurich. Both my partner and I, we can strongly recommend it.

Excellent - Thank you to our guide Douglas!! Excellent tour and Douglas’ knowledge of Zürich was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our two hour tour and yes they are truly “Secret Doors” and “Secret Keys”. The history of old Zürich was so interesting and informative. Would highly recommend!!!

Long walk lots of Info - We experienced 3 of the 5 secret doors with David. He's also doing history tours so we had that also. Need to be more explicit on length of the walking in your description

Uninspired - Our guide was pleasant but not particularly knowledgeable about even basics such as the name of the rivers feeding Lake Zurich. If there were secret doors of Zurich, we did not have any opened for us. We walked around the old city without much direction. We learned more about Zurich after the tour looking up our unanswered questions.

Very disappointed - Although our guide was very sweet, we really gained little to no information about the history doors or details/stories about Zurich’s history. The secret doors showed the water aqua ducts, sewer system and Roman baths. Our guide was flipping through printed notes about each of our stops and would read directly from those notes, and we actually gleaned more information by using our own Google Translate to read the signage inside the doors. We definitely did not get our money’s worth, as this tour was not even worth close to $100 per person. I had chosen this tour because I wanted to have a more personal experience in a small group, and were hoping to gain some insight into the history of Zurich. Overall we left disappointed and not knowing much more about the history of Zurich.
