Highlights

South Coast Waterfalls & Black Beach

Hveragerdi - On the first day you will depart from Reykjavík. You will drive along Route 1 passing through small towns and enjoying the beauty of the Icelandic countryside. You will pass by famous town of Hveragerði, famous for the greenhouses and the “Hot River” of Reykjadalur, sitting in a rift valley between the two continental plates of Eurasia and America.

Selfoss - Selfoss is the largest town and the capital of South Iceland

Seljalandsfoss - You’ll be able to experience this waterfall right up close as it crashes off the side of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano from a height of 60 meters.

Gljufrabui Waterfalls - A hidden waterfall, which most visitors miss. We’ll tell you where to find it!

Írafoss - A private waterfall , that not everyone have access to

Volcano Eyjafjallajokull - Remember to ask your guide all about the colossal eruption here back in 2010, which made Iceland famous all around the world!

Skogafoss - Skogafoss is one of the most iconic waterfalls in the world, and even featured in “Game of Thrones”. Because of its south-facing position, it is often covered in rainbows as the 60-meter cascade of water produces a lot of spray! Skogafoss is one of the most popular sights in the country and it’s possible to climb to the top of the falls to see it from there too

Solheimajokull Glacier - Solheimajokull is part of one of the largest glaciers in the country, Myrdalsjokull. Enjoy the raw views around and get as close as possible to the glacier cap.

Dyrholaey - The stone sea arches of Dyrholaey can also be seen in the distance from Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach

Reynisfjara Beach - It is now time to visit the world-famous black sand beach at Reynisfjara, where beautifully-shaped basalt columns hug the cliffs, volcanic sands are pounded by powerful Atlantic waves and the starkly shaped sea stacks of the Reynisdrangar tower just offshore

Glacier Lagoon & Blue Ice Cave

Vik - The second day starts with short stop in Vík Village that offers stunning views over Black Sand Beach and hills surrounding this small settlement

Eldhraun Lava Field - A barren and desolate wasteland filled with moss-covered lava formations.

Hofskirkja Church - Hofskirkja was the last church of this type to be built in Iceland, dating back to the 19th century. Deep layers of turf make up the roof of the church here, which is also surrounded by moss-covered burial mounds

Glacier Lagoon - Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon is truly an extraordinary place, a bucket-list location featured in several Hollywood movies, but also very peaceful and tranquil too. The scenery is stunning, and always changing too, as wind and tides pull the icebergs in different directions all the time. Here you can also spot seals swimming around the ice chunks or resting on surrounding beaches

Fellsfjara - Just a few hundred yards away from the Glacier Lagoon you will see the Diamond Beach, that gets its name from the countless sparkling fragments of multi-colored icebergs found here. They are slowly being sculpted into fantastic shapes by the wind and the waves on this black sand Atlantic beach.

Vatnajokull National Park - Last but no least - the true highlight of this tour awaits you! Blue Ice Cave expeditions starts with superjeep ride towards natural ice cave. The Blue Ice Cave really shows the tremendous forces of Icelandic nature, as they are formed naturally in glaciers when fresh water freezes in the plunging winter temperatures. New caves are created every year as the glaciers freeze and melt and refreeze into different shapes. It’s a memorable sight to see, with fabulously different ice formations in a range of striking colors. Our local guides will take you to the most beautiful blue ice caves to be found here. Once you’ve been there, that single blue ice cave might never exist again, so this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

After we have made our way from the Blue Ice Cave back to Jokulsarlon, we’ll return to the capital city, with a rest stop in Vik along the way for refreshments.

Unforgettable Experience - I definitely recommend this tour, it was awesome. Everything was great thanks to our tour guide Mika. He is so knowledgeable and passionate about Iceland that he passed it on to us. He took us to more sites than were scheduled and that made the distances hardly felt. All the sites we visited were wonderful and we had plenty of time to enjoy them. I loved everything, but especially the ice cave and walking on the ice to get there. Being on the tour reminded me what an adventure life is... it was an unforgettable experience.

Huge waterfalls, amazing mountain and water views, drive through old lava fields, ice cave with an amazing drive across Iceland’s largest glacier, diamond beach, glacier lagoon and the famous black sand beach. Walter was an incredible guide who’s expert driving was needed as snow suddenly hit, he navigated like an expert and kept us all safe while still making sure we got to see all this tour could offer. He was lively and has a wealth of knowledge of Iceland that is tailored to each group! The hotel was very charming, clean and comfortable. Such an amazing 2 day tour, don’t hesitate to book!

A great 2-day tour with lots of little extras - This was a great tour. Our guide, Colin, really shared details about where we were that we wouldn't have known otherwise. His laid-back style, the microstops (15-minute stops at picturesque locations along the way), and the entire operation was just what we hoped for. Would definitely recommend.

Wonderful trip on the south coast of Iceland - Our tour guide Siddi made these two days memorable. He ran a very efficient, informative and fun trip. His local knowledge was super impressive and we stopped at amazing places, keeping to the timetable, albeit at one time very high winds made for challenging driving.
