Arrival in Leh

Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport - Upon landing at KBR airport in Leh, your journey begins. The snow-covered mountains seen from the plane window are a magnificent preview of the beauty that awaits you. (If flying from Delhi, try to grab a window seat for a breathtaking view of the Himalayas from the sky.)

Located in Leh, India, Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport is one of the highest airports in the world, situated at an elevation of 3,256 meters. This airport is a crucial entry point for adventurers and trekkers seeking to explore the Himalayas. It is named after a revered Ladakhi monk and is known for its stunning mountainous surroundings.

After completing all formalities at the airport & collecting your baggage, you will exit the airport, where our company representative will meet you. Depending on the airport’s congestion, this entire process may take up to 2 hours.

Once we’re done here, our company representatives will be happy to escort you to your hotel in Thiksey.

Thiksey - In the evening, take a stroll around the area, taking in the tranquil landscape and the unique atmosphere of Thiksey. You will meet your trekking guide at your hotel, and he will brief you about the upcoming trek, setting the tone for the adventure ahead.

Nestled in the Indus Valley near Leh, Thiksey Village is an idyllic spot for an acclimatisation walk. Traditional Ladakhi homes and vibrant prayer flags set against majestic, barren hills offer a tranquil Himalayan backdrop.

Your day ends at Dakpa House, where relaxation meets tradition. Enjoy a dinner of Indian delicacies, culminating in a peaceful retreat to Dakpa House’s comfortable rooms. This blend of Thiksey’s charm and Dakpa House’s hospitality promises a serene Himalayan journey start.

Acclimatization and Leh Exploration

Leh Royal Palace - Discover the rich cultural heritage of Leh by exploring two iconic structures. First, visit the Leh Palace, a 17th-century royal palace that offers a glimpse into Ladakh’s regal past. The palace, with its nine stories, dominates the Leh skyline. Start of Trek to Skiu Village: Journey to Skiu Village in Markha Valley

Chilling - Experience a day of adventure and tranquillity in the heart of the Himalayas. Begin with an early breakfast followed by a compelling 2.5-hour drive alongside the Zanskar River, reaching Chilling Village before crossing the river to Skiu Village. Marvel at the deep, steep gorges and let the river amaze your senses. Upon arriving in Skiu Village, embark on a 3-4 hour trek towards the Sara campsite, introducing you to the rugged beauty of the Himalayas. Each step brings you closer to nature, with breathtaking views throughout the journey. While you trek, our experienced crew will transport the camping equipment directly to Sara, ensuring everything is set up for your arrival. Spend the night in twin-sharing tents under the starlit sky, enveloped by wilderness. This day offers a perfect blend of a thrilling road trip and serene trekking. It is approximately 6-7 hours of travel and trekking time. It’s a day filled with diverse landscapes and an introduction to life on the Himalayan trails.

Trek from Sara to Markha Village

Markha Valley - On Day 4, your adventure continues as you trek from Sara towards the picturesque Markha Village. The day starts with the fascinating sight of pack horses being loaded with trekking gear, a traditional practice in these mountain terrains. Your journey takes you through some of the most scenic landscapes, offering a blend of natural beauty and cultural richness.
The trek to Markha Village is relatively short, but it’s filled with breathtaking views and opportunities for photography. Markha, the largest village in the valley so far, is a cultural gem. Here, you can explore the local monastery, a place of peace and spiritual reflection. The village itself is an excellent example of traditional Ladakhi architecture and lifestyle.

Trek from Markha to Thachungtse

Markha Valley - Day 5 is a trek from Markha to Thachungtse, spanning 15 km. As you trek by the river, the changing landscape weaves a tapestry of natural beauty and Himalayan grandeur. This segment challenges your endurance with a gradual ascent, rewarding you with breathtaking vistas and a profound sense of achievement. Upon reaching the elevation of 4370 meters at Thachungtse, you are enveloped in an idyllic setting, perfect for introspection and rest. first time in ladakh which was fabulous with "Travel with Susmita" - I'm Rock climber I have been traveling all-over India for a long time but couldn't make possible to go somewhere in Ladakh. so I decided to go on Trek but as I said I'm a Rock climber so don't had any experience of Trekking as well as of Ladakh then a name came in my mind "travel with susmita" they were organising a Trek Markha Valley Trek, and finally went to that trek with them and it was just amazing special thanks to "travel with Susmita for making my trip so comforting and organised. looking forward to joining you in my trip.😉

Best Markha trek with Susmita. - Markha valley trek with Susmita was fabulous. It was scenic and beautiful. The organization was great and once we arrived in Ladakh everything was taken care of. Me or my friends had nothing to worry about during the whole trip. The guide was very friendly and he took notice of all our needs. I would recommend the Markha valley trek in Ladakh to everyone who wants to trek in Himalayas and I will definitely recommend that you do it with Susmita for the best experience.
