GRAY LINE RED ROUTE BUS TOUR LISBON - BE CAREFUL. We stopped in Lisbon during our cruise. We entered the cruise terminal at the port and saw the booking desk for the GRAY LINE bus tours. It was a rushed process and the staff just wanted to sell as many tickets to people getting off the ship and fill the awaiting buses outside to do the tour (red route) 54 euros. The staff gave little information. The bus set off around 10.30 and into the city centre. We were given earphones which plugged into the seat or side. We then had to toggle the device until we saw the British flag which then gave the tour pre recorded commentary though out. We started the actual tour from POINT 1 on our map, toured around the city in the heavy traffic then eventually got onto the coastal road. At some point everyone was wondering if the bus dropped us off back at the port because the map didn't show this. The bus headed back into the city centre and to it's final destination back at the terminus POINT 1 in the city centre. This took around 3 hours. And as you can imagine everyone was asking to go back to the cruise terminal where we were originally picked up. We were told that a blue route bus would pick us up in minutes and then start it's own route and eventually drop off back near the cruise port probably another 50 minute journey. We then checked our map and got on the red route bus and got off at POINT 5/6. We walked down to the sea front and walked back to the ship. I would estimate around 1 mile which in fact was a nice walk passing by the large square etc. So if you have mobility problems or elderly and can't walk very far PLEASE DON'T USE THIS SIGHT SEEING TOUR BECAUSE IT DOESN'T DROP OFF BACK AT THE CRUISE PORT WHERE YOU WERE PICKED UP. The blue route bus may well do a tour around the city and drop off back at the cruise terminal BUT PLEASE CHECK BEFORE HAND.

Boring Blue Line - The red was good and informative. Never had to wait too long for a bus. The blue line was a complete waste of time. It was very long and boring. Not much commentary either.

Buses at the cruise terminal - Because our cruise ship were selling tickets for the hop on/off buses onboard, the buses were right outside the cruise terminal. Ideal We got on the red loop bus ( not knowing at that point where the stops were for that loop). I had to change seats four times before I could get a commentary in the head phones! Even then a lot of music and not a lot of information. The numbered stops were not announced by the commentary or the bus changes to other lines and what you might expect to see on them. The red loop toured the city, and you can change to another of the four loops part way through. We stayed on the red loop bus deciding to get off at the cruise terminal when it returned and change to another loop. However the bus did not return to the cruise terminal!! As soon as we realised we got off at the next stop and walked back to the terminal, ( a very long walk). The red loop took nearly three hours to complete and although the blue loop looked interesting we were afraid to get on it as it looked even longer and we didnt want to miss our ships departure time. I would do this again in Lisbon, but give the red loop a miss as it took too long

Don’t use the red company, use the yellow busses - We always do these trips when we go to a new city to get a better view of where to go. We took the red city hop on hop off busses because that is the ones our hotel was selling. DON’T. Go to the yellow bus trips and buy them there if your hotel doesn’t sell them. The busses were nice and fairly comfortable but the most important commentary was rubbish, very poor and not enough. For instance, they say that there is a monument to someone special, but they don’t tell them where, is it on the left, right, in front etc. And many very nice and possibly interesting sights they don’t mention. For instance, when we passed Cote Inglese they mention it, but when we passed one of the most important restaurants in Lisbon, the Michelin star Feitoria, they say nothing. Our recommendation, go on the yellow bus tour

Waste of money !!!! - What a waste of money. No audio guide or personal guide. So 1 1/2 hours on a bus not knowing where we were going and no one to complain to !!!!!

outdated - I really can’t recommend this company. The map is behind the paywall, finding the pick up spots is a hassle because half are missing because if construction, getting the location for Bolt or Uber to take you to the pickup is bear impossible because you get coordinates and not addresses. This is especially frustrating for people with limited mobility as is my friend. then there is no way to know when the bus is scheduled to arrive. Setting up a live map should be a given at this day and age. so now we have been waiting an hour at the same pick up spot and have no idea if the bus will even arrive. Also they insist on printing out a receipt. once you have the paper voucher you cant reuse the digital QR. so if you lose it it or forget it you cant get on. why not just use the same QR instead of printing a physical ticket?

Do not use - not fit for purpose - I don't know how this tour is still operating as Lison is not an "active destination" when you look it up on the City Sightseeing official website. This is unsuprising as this whole tour was a joke from start to finish. I have never been on such a clapped out old bus in my life! Firstly they couldn't take our card payment on board and had to take the card machine apart, take the battery out, re-assemble it and reboot the thing before it went through taking about 10 minutes. This should have rung alarm bells. Then we went upstairs to find a seat. You had to lay down to work out how to plug in the headphones into the console infront, then you were very lucky if you could find one which was working. We tried about 4 sets of seats before we got 2 together which both worked. We had been on the bus for around 10 minutes with nohting but fado music in our ears before the first bit of "commentary" came through which was one line about a fire in some shops, then back to ten more minutes of fado. Every time the bus went over a bump - frequently - the commentary cut out and you had to restart the system. In the end we gave up as it wasn't telling us anthing anyway. The bus went round in a pointless circle down by commercial square and just seemed to be wasting time. Half of the chairs were falling apart (photo), the trim was coming off, the wires were hanging down under the chairs and there was a spring loose under one of the many chairs we tried. We didn't dare "hop off" as we feared we'd never see another bus so we just rode the loop and tried to get off at number 2 on the map - Principe Real. As the driver sailed past we asked him to stop and he said no - only the points that said "stop" (less than half) were stops on the map - the rest were things to look at. So much for hopping on and off! Luckily we managed to convince him to open the doors and escaped... This isn't being run offically according to their website - give it a very wide berth!! Gray line is much better. I would have thought Lisbon Tourist officials would have some concerns??

Very disappointing experience - CitySightseeing was the worst hop on hop off bus experience ever. We were sold tickets at the port after disembarking our ship. The commentary was abysmal and the music dreadful. Took 1.5 hrs to travel 4 stops. When we did get off the bus for a while trying to get a return bus took an hour. Never got to see half the things we had planned to.

Very disappointed - Very disappointed. We purchased the ticket for the bus on Thursday morning and are yet to get use out of them. We paid €22 each for the tickets so €44 all in. We waited one hour yesterday and one hour and half today at the bus stop but there was no sign of the bus whatsoever. We usually get the hop on hop off bus every city we visit on the first day of our holiday so this was very frustrating and a waste of 2 and a half hours of our holiday waiting.

Lisboa card offers flexibility and freedom. - Waste of money. Better off with travel card. Better off with a Lisboa card and a good guide book. If centrally located, many sights are walkable. The Lisboa card offers free and discounted entry fees. Busses, trams and aero buss covered.
