Highlights
  • Blarney Castle & Gardens - Upon arriving in Cork at 09:35, we will transfer to our tour coach and travel through Cork City to Blarney Village, home to the historic Blarney Castle, which is over 600 years old.

Explore the stunning gardens and take the opportunity to kiss the famous stone, believed to grant the gift of eternal eloquence to those who do. There will also be time for shopping and lunch in Blarney Village.

TIP! We suggest having lunch here, as it will be the only chance to enjoy a substantial meal during the day.

We will depart Blarney at approximately 13:30 hrs, or as directed by your Host, and head to Cóbh via the city centre for a brief city tour.

  • Cobh Cathedral - Upon arriving in Cóbh (pronounced: Cove), we will visit St Colman’s Cathedral. We will then proceed along the seafront, passing the former White Star Line offices on our way to the beautifully restored Victorian railway station/transatlantic terminal. This is now the Cóbh Heritage Centre, home to the Queenstown Story, with your entrance included.
  • Cobh Heritage Centre The Queenstown Story - When Queen Victoria visited Ireland in 1849, she came to Cóbh, and the town was renamed Queenstown in her honor. It was renamed Cóbh after Irish independence in 1922.

Cóbh was the final port of call for the RMS Titanic, a theme well explored at the centre. The centre also provides extensive information about the Great Famine and subsequent Irish Emigration, with 3 million Irish people emigrating from Cóbh, primarily to the United States.

The Lusitania was torpedoed off the coast of Cork, leading to the United States’ entry into the First World War, and the few survivors were brought to Cóbh for refuge.

Cóbh is also the headquarters of the Irish Navy, and you will likely see some navy ships.

Excellent and worth the trip! - Honestly the train ride to and from were a little long but it did provide a great nap opportunity for a long day. The guides in both directions Norman and John were well informed and helpful. The Cobh Cathedral was glorious and well preserved. As an individual of Irish descent to tour the grounds of Blarney Castle was enlightenment. I recommend visiting the Blarney house as an add on. I was surprised by the information learned from the guide Shane was very good.

Easy and beautiful day trip out of Dublin - We had a great time! It was easy to find at the train station. The train was comfortable and convenient. The group size wasn’t too large. The sites were beautiful. And, most importantly the tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. We highly recommend for singles, couples, friend groups or families.

Interesting - The line to wait in line to kiss the Blarney Stone was 1 1/2 hours long. Instead walk around the gardens and have a nice lunch

Disappointed - We had 3 hours at the castle which was fantastic. Blarney is beautiful and there is much to explore. I was disappointed in the rest of the tour. I expected the opportunity to walk around the town of Cobh but there was not enough time. We spent time at a cemetery which was unexpected and then only had 40 minutes to either explore the town or go to the history center. It took nearly 4 hours to get back to Dublin.
