Additional Information

The East 4x4 tour is enormously diverse and can cater to every interest!

We will first make a halt at Pico Do Areiro, the island’s three highest peak, elevating to 1811m above ground level.

The view from here is typically awe-inspiring and we usually take a considerable amount of time admiring it.

Following this, we head to the island’s North side, delving into rustic areas like Ribeiro Frio and Faial offering glimpses of Laurissilva forest.

The next stop on our itinerary is Santana.

This is the place where you can spot the renowned ‘A-Frame’ houses, you may have seen in online images or travel literature.

We will encounter numerous farming terraces, interact with local inhabitants and enjoy lunch at perhaps the most scenic restaurant on the island,

Quinta do Furao Hotel.
(Note: The cost for lunch is not included in the tour fare, yet highly suggested)

Post lunch, depending on the time available and group preferences, we generally arrange for a tasting session of wine or rum.

This tour serves as the perfect ‘initial tour’ for anyone who appreciates panoramic views, local culture, delicious food and an enjoyable time!

A must do while in Madeira!! - The views were spectacular. Hugo took us to all the right places to capture the diverse nature of the island. The off road capability was an added excitement and thrill.

A must do activity in Madeira. - Great communication from the Hit the Road Team from the easy online booking to arrangements and tips pre tour. It’s a wonderful way to enjoy and learn about this beautiful island from the people who live there. Vitor was our driver / guide for both the East 4x4 tour and the West 4x4 tour and a short cut specialist! Who knew vehicles could access some of these roads…. He has a great passion for Madeira and ensures that you get to see places that the larger tour vehicles cannot access. We can highly recommend Jeff and his team.; it was a tremendous experience. Check out the YouTube videos too.

Magical an unforgettable experience - This was our 3rd tour with Hit the Road Madeira and with our guide Hugo. It was an amazing experience, the views were magical and of course Hugo was the best! We will definitely take more tours with them when we have guests on the island. Hugo is incredibly engaging, witty and always works to create an unforgettable experience for his clients.

East tour - Nuno was a fanatic guide for the day with a great sense of humour. Absolutely would recommend the East tour🚙, but I can imagine the West tour to be just as good, Nuno has a real passion for his homeland and is very knowledgeable 😊👌.

Another great option from Hit the Road Madeira - We had an amazing time with Nuno. He was a great driver and tour guide. Charasmatic, energetic, and insightful. He also took us to a really great lunch spot for Espetada and also a really good spot for some traditional Poncha. We had a great time exploring the Eastern portion of the island with this tour group.

OH MY DEIRA! - This island is alive! Madeira marches to the beat of its own drum and so do the guys from hit the road. Two briljant full day tours, and both so different. We are very impressed by the...well everything. We heard people say that one week is enough. I don't know were these people went.... but not on these tours. Many thanks to Nuno, Fabio and the rest of the team. "Walk to the right, walk to the left, take a lot of pictures, enjoy and take your time" Ivy and Peet. The netherlands.

Highly recommend! - Fabio was a fantastic tour guide. His knowledge of the island is excellent, and he brought us to parts of the island that the main tours don't visit, so we were able to avoid the crowds all day. The views were stunning, the local food and drinks that we were able to sample were delicious, and the whole day was really fun.

Amazing tour! The one with amazing Nuno and beautiful east Madeira - We had an amazing tour with amazing guide Nuno! We seen some amazing views, went off road through some of amazing parts of narrow streets and mountain roads. Had amazing food and the best poncha on the island. Nuno was amazing and made us feel welcome, even us the persistent ones :D Had a lot of laughs and he really showed us parts of Madeira that we could’ve not seen by ourselves. We felt like home and seen some amazing sights. Thank you Nuno for helping us create amazing memories of this beautiful island! We would definitely recommend everyone to book this tour!

Best way to see Maderia - Absolutely brilliant, one of the best trips I have ever had on a holiday. You get to see parts of Madeira which are off the beaten track, lunch at a restaurant with an outstanding view and great food, and finally a driver with an incredible knowledge of the island and it flora and fauna. I cannot recommend this trip enough and am already planning to come back and do the trip to the west of the island. If you are going to Maderia book a trip with this company, it’s worth every penny
