Highlights
  • Chinchero - This town is located 28 km from Cusco on the paved road to Urubamba. Where the remains of what was the royal hacienda of Túpac Inca Yupanqui are found”, it is like a beautiful colonial temple built on Inca foundations, its main attraction. however, it is its artisan market, originally dedicated to the exchange of agricultural products between the community members of the valley and those of the highlands. Currently, the market is a true spectacle of color and movement that fascinates tourists with its offer of handicrafts and textile garments made in the purest pre-Columbian style.

Wonderful places, highly recommended - The Sacred Valley of the Incas is a tour not to be missed, from the moment of pick up Terra Quechua Peru was attentive and punctual, the guide Miguel was really kind and gave us great information about the history and much more. We went to the ruins of Ollantaytambo and Pisac, all with beautiful landscapes. It is a very worthwhile tour. I recommend taking sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. We will come back with more time to see more of Cuzco.

The places you visit are beautiful - Impossible to be in Cusco and not do the excursion to the Sacred Valley, we hired the tour with Terra Quechua Peru in private because we had certain time restrictions, it was a day tour through different villages, where you can see wonderful archaeological ruins, shopping in their craft markets, colorful typical products, and enjoy a buffet lunch, Andy was our guide, and at all times was concerned that each of the group members know the places we were visiting.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, THE BEST!!!!

Very good tour, and knowledgable guide, but barely any time in each place. - The tour was good, and our guide Diana was very knowledgeable and kind. However, after arriving at each location and hearing the explanation, we only had 10-15 minutes in each place, which was far from enough to really get a feel for the place. We were constantly being rushed to get to the next place, even though we would have loved to spend a bit more time in each place to really be able to explore. I believe that other guides explained each location in much more detail as well, and went to several places within each location (unlike one as we typically did), because we could hear some of the other guides when exploring on our own. Additionally, we were taken to three different shops, that in our opinion were unnecessary and added extra time that we could have used when visiting the interesting archaeological sites. For example, we were taken to a chocolate shop where we stayed for at least 20-30 minutes, and a silver jewellery shop where we stayed for a similar amount of time. We were also taken to a place where we received some explanation about how the women used the Alpaca wool to prepare different things and how to colour them, but the explanation was all in Spanish, so if you didn't know the language you wouldn't have understood anything. This activity was very nice, but we were then taken to an area with different stalls where we stayed for another 20-30 minutes. Unfortunately, we wished that we had had more time to explore each place and didn't spend time going to shops, since this was not our intention with the tour at all. Additionally, because of rushing everywhere, and going up and down in altitude constantly, you are more likely to have issues with altitude sickness. I personally felt altitude sickness after the tour, and had headaches all day long. I didn't feel the same way on any other tour that we did while in Cusco, including Lake Humantay, which is 4,200m above sea level, and I strongly believe that it was due to us being rushed around and not having enough time to properly explore and adapt to the altitude in each place. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend this tour due to the above, unless they removed some of the stops and added more time for each of the historical sites.

Okay trip to the sacred valley - We only had one day to see the Sacred Valley so this was a good tour to see a lot in one day. You didn't get to spend much time at each of the sites. It says that you have to pay additional entrance fees in the description, but it would have been helpful to know how much ahead of time, especially since it was cash only. It was 40 soles per person for all the historical sites and then 10 soles for the salt mines. The lunch stop was good - we enjoyed it. It is marketed as a bilingual English and Spanish tour, but I would say it is better for Spanish speakers. Our tour guide spoke good English, but her explanations in Spanish were much longer and more in-depth. The whole first stop was completely in Spanish so we didn't get anything out of that. At one point, a woman got on the bus and started passing around a drink & then selling the drink, but it was all in Spanish and seemed to be a friend of the tour guide. The last stop of the day was at a jewelry store which also seemed to be owned by a friend of the tour guide. So these both felt gimmicky/trying to get you to spend more money.

I don't recommend it. Totally insecure - There are no medical services, one person in my group died from abandonment. It took the doctor more than 40 minutes to reach the site without oxygen or defibrillator

No defibrillator, no protocol, no oxygen. - I was there!!! was during a visit to the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Ollataytambo, when descending from the archaeological remains, one of the members of our group/tour (in charge of the companies lima tour and eurovips) suffered decompensation, falling to the floor where, after many minutes of despair, he would lose his life. This death could have been prevented. The victim received a first (and only) response for help from his groupmates and foreign tourists who, stunned by not believing that whoever should act did not, They intervened in the face of abandonment that seemed indifferent. NO ONE among those who were supposed to be performing any function in that place did anything or had the indispensable elements that they should have. I can assure you that there was no doctor, no oxygen, no defibrillator, no staff training in this type of problem (a simple protocol) and we were stunned at the incapacity and non-training of the supposed health professionals, who finally came (around 30 minutes later). With some help I would have survived.
