Highlights
  • Thousand Islands Bridge - The Thousand Islands International Bridge (French: Pont des Mille-îles) is an international bridge system maintained by the United States, spanning the Saint Lawrence River to connect northern New York with southeastern Ontario in Canada. Built in 1937 and expanded in 1959, these bridges cross the Canada–US border in the heart of the Thousand Islands region.
  • Boldt Castle and Yacht House - Construction of Boldt Castle began in 1900, commissioned by millionaire hotel magnate George C. Boldt as a tribute to his beloved wife Louise. Intended as their summer dream home, the castle was designed to rival those in Europe and is situated on the St. Lawrence River in the heart of the 1000 Islands. Tragically, Mrs. Boldt passed away just months before its completion, leading a heartbroken Mr. Boldt to halt all construction on Heart Island, leaving the property abandoned for over seventy years.
  • 1000 Islands Tower - The 1000 Islands Tower is a concrete observation tower located on Hill Island, straddling the U.S.-Canada border but situated within Ontario. Erected in 1965, the tower offers panoramic views of the Thousand Islands in both countries from a height of 400 feet (120 m) above the Saint Lawrence River.
  • Zavikon Island - Zavikon Island features a bridge that, at just 32 feet long, is considered the shortest international bridge in the world. It links a Canadian island with an American island in the middle of the Saint Lawrence River.

The boundary agreement between Canada and the United States stipulates that no island can be divided between the two countries. Two-thirds of the Thousand Islands belong to Canada, but the total area of the Canadian islands is roughly equal to that of the American islands, which make up the remaining one-third.

Gateway to family vacation - Great relaxing way to see the islands with the kids (10 and 14), we took the 3 hour tour and found it very informative with scripted audio detailing various historic points of interest

Disappointed - Boat is old and no ac, 2nd level is a literal steamer. Way too much people is allowed on the boat, not a relaxing cruise. The audio description is low volume and only told once, there were a tv giving fun trivia and local ads all the way. Would spend the money for private boat hire in the area if you a group of people instead

Meh - Nothing. It was not comfortable, very hot and not exciting at all. Not worth the money at all. Blah blah blah

Nice visit to Thousand Islands - Nice visit but just too long. Something like 2 to 2,5 hours would be better. On the way out you have nice views and a lot of info. On the way back it feels a lot of the same. Also probably not something to do with small children.

Okay - The views were beautiful.. the boat was in good shape along with the washroom. The commentary was a minus. There was so much talking I couldn't hear about the history or anything. I asked to have it turned up so we could hear it they either couldn't or didn't try. We were not the only ones unhappy about this.
