Highlights
- Wat Mahathat - Wat Mahathat, “the temple of the Great Relic” was one of the most important temples in the Ayutthaya Kingdom. Located on the historical island the large monastery features a huge central prang, a very large principal viharn and ubosot and a great number of subsidiary chedis and viharns. The upper part of its once massive central prang has collapsed. Today only the base remains.
- Wat Phra Sri Sanphet - Wat Phra Si Sanphet, also known as the “Temple of the Holy, Splendid Omniscient” was the holiest temple in Ayutthaya during the Ayutthaya period and until the city was destroyed by the Burmese in 1767. It was the grandest and most beautiful temple in the capital and it served as a model for Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok.
- Vihara Phra Mongkhon Bophit - Housing a large bronze seated Buddha image of 12.45 meters high (Phra Mongkhon Bophit), it was originally enshrined outside the Grand Palace to the east. It could be dated to the 15th and has a long history prior to being enshrined and to being covered nowadays with a Mondop. - Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Lokayasutharam) - Wat Lokayasutharam is situated at Pratoochai District, behind the Ancient Palace and the Pratoochai Primary School, in the area 0f Wat Worapoh (Wat Rakhang) and Wat Worachettharam.
Wat Lokayasutharam is 800 meters from Wat Phra Mongkon Bophit. Wat Worachettharam and Wat Worapoh are also closeby. Nevertheless, we had quite some difficulty finding Wat Lokayasutharam, likely our otherwise good Ayutthaya map, was a bit off the mark.

- When visiting temples visitors should ensure they are suitably dressed. Long pants which go down to the ankle, not tight and not torn - Tops with sleeves and must not be see-through should be worn. If the dress code is not applied then upon the day of the activity it may be possible to rent on spot at your cost. Our guide will help you

Recommended - Comfortable big bus trips into the countryside to see these amazing ruins. The river cruise was excellent.

What a great day! - Donna is a native resident of Ayatthuya and her knowledge was amazing. She made it fun to learn and see the sites. The river cruise and banquet was a pleasant surprise and we found the food tasty and service was super.

Excellent and professional tour and tour guide - Forest (First) is an excellent tour guide, very knowledgeable, good English (and funny). Good knowledge of history. It is a passion for him and it shows. The river boat cruise and buffet lunch were a highlight of the day.
We highly recommend this tour.

Very enjoyable and worthwhile - We stayed in Bangkok for just three nights and spent most of one day on this trip and cruise. It was certainly worthwhile and gave us a degree of insight into the country. The guide (First) was entertaining and helpful. The food on the cruise was very good and plentiful. The trip along the river revealed sights which would not otherwise have been accessible. The pick up from our hotel went without a hitch and the return likewise. Well worth the money.

Great tour full of interesting information - The tour was great, our tour guide Dona provided interesting information about Thai history and culture.

History and boats! How can you go wrong! - This was a great excursion for those who like history and culture. Our guide, “Donna” was extremely knowledgeable and informative. She answered questions well and kept the group moving despite the heat. The river cruise back to Bangkok included a good lunch buffet with a mix of both Thai and western fare.

Good day out from Bangkok - Temples interesting and guide knowledgeable . After Angkor Wat they were less impressive than if we had seen them prior to Cambodia . River cruise was good .We were well looked after and catering was good .
